My office didn't accept school ids. They wanted passports, state issued ids or birth certificates

Desipride I think a school Id can be used if you bring along a birth certificate so they can verify your identity and age

I did the biometrics yesterday and the girl in front of me try to used her school id and they told her to go get her passport (oakland park-Fl) I went there in my expired passport, birth certificate and school id. First i showed her my passport and told her that its was expired and she said that its was ok and should be enough. they only look at the name and picture nothing else

The guard asked me at first for my passport but I told her I did not bring it.
I proceeded with giving her my country's national ID card and also told her I had my college ID. She took both and went to the manager's office. A few minutes later, I was done with the biometrics.
I think it depends on the guard, how busy they are, and the manager's approval.

You are partially wrong
YOU DO NOT NEED A VALID PASSPORT.
Expired Passports are accepted

I went in with expired passport that has my 5 yr old pic and expired in 1995
along with my skool ID and I just stuck my ID there so they didnt have to ask just
incase..... (Im 29 right now so you'd figure....)
The clerk looked at my photo glanced at me and kinda smiled and stamped it!!!
so to anyone with a expired passport dont worry its possible...... but not a guaranteeeeeee
It's a human run world.... if one says no dont front just come back ....
Piece of advice- Do a walk in like i did if you know you have potential problems....
cuz u dont want to fail or get rejected on that day....

Not true, I used my school ID without a problem.
It all depends on the ASC you go to. Some do allow school Id's others don't.

I did my biometrics in San Francisco and all I have is my birth certificate and my college ID. I gave that to the guard along with my approved i-130 letter from the uscis and also my i-130 petition. He took it to the manager and they let me get my fingerprints done.
