Re: Need Help: Credit Card (rejected from Captial One etc)

Check out this US Bank card, unlike firstprogress it has no annual fee and is also made for people who have no credit:

Is an H-D™ Visa Secured Credit Card for Me?

Yes, if:
You haven't established credit yet.
You've had credit difficulties in the past and want to re-establish a solid credit rating.
https://www.usbank.com/cgi_w/cfm/per...HD_secured.cfm

Seeing how no one else was able to verify you. What most likely will happen is that they will ask you to fax/mail in in proof of address and copy of social. Then they will approve you and it will start reporting to the credit bureau.

I got my USC friend a secured card 8 months ago. Now he was able to get 5 credit cards just this week after only 8 months.

I'm not sure if you still need help but if you have relatives (parents, aunts, uncles, etc.) that have great credit you might want to ask them to add you as an AU to one of their cards. From my understanding this will not only give you a credit history but also you'll piggyback off of their scores. You can then go on to open your own account and you should be approved. If this isn't an option then maybe you can have your brother add you as an AU. If he's not great with managing money then I'd steer clear.

I don't know how secured cards work but if you had to enter an income DON'T EVER ENTER ZERO. I've only been denied credit once and it was because I said I was a student with zero income.

Couple of things on this as i went through the same thing:

- The letter they send you states a reason why they could not approve you. If the reason was that your SSN "was not valid" (my case), you CAN call them up and send a copy of your SSN to them. I got rejected at first but then approved after i sent them a copy.

- If you want to check your credit on creditkarm per example, you will have to wait a couple of months after you get your SSN. It just takes a bit of time before they recognize your SSN and starts tracking your credit.

- Don't go applying to 5 different credit cards as all that will impact your credit history. Like somebody else said, if your parents have a CC already, just apply to be a "dependent". You will most likely get approved.

- Obviously, having a job will impact the decision on whether you get approved or not. If you don't have a job, a secured credit card is your best bet to start your credit.

Yeah dude, if creditkarma can't pull your info, that means there's no history AT ALL, which means that you have to go to a secured credit card, no way around that, GOOD LUCK

Yeah I don't mind getting secured credit card. I said I already tried for it and got rejected.
I was asking for next step or to get any sort of cc.

Try Bank of America secured credit card.
It seems like a lot of people are anti-credit card here. But it's important when you need to buy a car, a house, or apply for some jobs. My mom never feel the need of it until she need to get a denture. She could pay for it by cash but they need credit. And you see you cannot build credit overnight. It's better to be prepared.

Its not that we're anti-credit card. Its the fact that we know what it takes to get one, and DREAMERS are susceptible at not getting approved due to the age of the Social and lack of credit history.

also, a lot of DREAMERS are young and therefor lack the knowledge to actually take care of a credit card. I know its pretty straight forward right? You get the credit, you use it and then you pay it off. But things aren't always that way. Hey there's this cool new toy that i would like to purchase, and what do you know.. i have a credit card!!! so they proceed to acquire such thing. Hey i only have to pay 31 dollars a month!! COOL!!! so you make the minimum payment, until things get tough because of unknown circumstances. UH OH!! we're in trouble, that's ok though. I'll keep making the minimum payment!!! and you keep adding more shit to the credit card until you cap it off.

So in a way its good that you guys aren't getting approved right off the bat. Get a secure source of income, and then proceed to borrow money. YES even if you're going to school a job can be acquired.

I applied for a Journey credit card from capital one it's a student credit card, they gave me a $500 limit line and i got approved instantly. That is the first card that I have. Another one I have is from barclaycard, one of my friends is a permanent resident and he agreed to get a credit card so I can finance my macbook through that, they instantly approved him for a $1,700 credit line, and he added me so now we kinda both share the card, but I use most of it and pay it off under his name but now since he added me I believe it affects both of our credit scores.

Thanks for the advises. But I know how to take care of CC. Like I said I'm not doing it for the money but to build credit. "Desperate" just wasn't the word here.

Anyways Thanks for the concerns and advises.
