Re: shopping for a laptop
hey whatz up? depends on what environment you will be in? If you will be in the sciences I would go with a windows based, if not and you just need a lappy for music word docs and web I would go with a mac. You can get a windows and put a linux on it but thats if you are good with computers. I have used both OSs and I love them both the cheapest macbook is really good and make sure you dont get less than 2gb of ram I would jus tbuy the comp with 1 gb and then upgrade it myself

There is a big diffrence between a computer and laptop. That is Even if you get a cheap computer, you can always easily replace the old parts and update it, but with laptop is alot more expensive and hassling. Quote:
Pc= personal computer  . It could be mac or windows. So yeah, not pc but Mr.windows and Mac were having the chat. Also , thats so not true. I have never had problem with viruses. I wont argue if the laptop is only for school work , then yeah Mac > and more convinient. Buuuuuut, In an overal sense, Windows > Mac. Trust me, there are so many things that dont work with Mac. So If he is only getting it for school, yeah go Mac. But other than that Windows is the way to go. |

Yes a pc could be a mac or windows, but popular culture calls a system that usually has a Windows OS "pc". The only thing Macs suck at is that they cant play many games, other than that EVEN Microsoft Office works better on Macs Linux > Macs > shit > Windows |
Re: shopping for a laptop
Mac > PC You guys do know that Mac desktops and laptops can now run Windows right? That means that now they can actually play games and do pretty much everything a PC could..

Re: shopping for a laptop
i currently have a dell xps 1310 is not a bad machine, it looks nice and its pretty fast. but after i saw the mac air im really starting to fall for the macmania. and after apple releases its new 3g iphone this june, i might just go all the way in. but if you really want a pc that hold true power and still is pretty cheap, get the leonova thinkpad t61. this laptop is consider the most bang for your buck in any website that rates these things and they are all business inspired.

Few of my friends have mac. Mac is a good computer. But i think You can do alot more in windows than mac. Thats why we need to know for what type of work ( game, photo shop, school, .... ) he needs his laptop so we can help him find one *_*. P.S. I do know that popular culture usually calls windows based system computers PC. I was just trying to be picky *_*. Basically i was just joking with you :D. |
Re: shopping for a laptop
let me break it down for you guys, since my major deals with this stuff.
No matter what anyone tells you, macs are overpriced. It's simple, apple cannot compete with PCs at a business level, so they target individuals by making their products look nice and thin. If microsoft were to sell computers it would mean checkmate apple, but they can't because the government won't let them. Proven that macs are overpriced, if you really want a mac prepare to pay good money for it. PCs and macs can do pretty much the same thing. I would recommend getting an HP laptop, they're nice and come with a very good price tag on them. |
Re: shopping for a laptop
^^ Read this dude.
There's a reason Mac's cost more, Apple makes sure their products can run their own OS. I've seen countless people at school bitching that their computer runs Vista like shit. Oh yes and my major also deals with this stuff, Graphic Design. |
