I'm not trying to be negative but the parliamentarian's response to the Dems' proposal was that legalization had a bigger impact as policy than it did the budget. Wouldn't this also have a bigger policy impact?

TBH I think the only solution is for Dems to fulfill their promises and override the parliamentarian or have the VP overrule her. And if Kamala does come through (she won't) then let's see if there's 60 votes to override the VP's decision.

I think at this point the Dems are just making noise, why would the parliamentarian be ok updating the registry when she wasn't ok with the original proposal? essentially is the same thing except the qualifying population would be diffident. I think at this point we would be lucky if we get the 245i law reinstated.

Keep in mind that the registry date change can control the “impact” of the change by the date itself. If you want less impact you set the date further back. If more impact is desired set the date to a more recent date.

I also think Harris should override it. The analysis is flawed.
The proposal has huge budget impacts - especially in healthcare which accounts for 30% of the total economy in the U.S.

If they update the registry, there would be no special pathway to citizenship. We would join the backlog of green cards..

Yeah I don’t get this either. Congress let unemployment benefits expired even though some States are still struggling, they let eviction protections expire, have not done anything about inflation, majority of Americans think we are on the wrong track, but when the courts rule against DACA they suddenly think Congress will be rushing and scrambling to save us..? Lol!
