If they do that, then I'll start playing the lottery!

Wrong. You'll still have the bars to adjustment lmao.(maybe idk your circumstances) It's not a good offer. If you are rich there's no reason to get us citizenship. The rich dump theirs and escape. If you win the lottery just pay your winnings taxes and escape to a nation that has golden visas/residency/citizenship.

Yeah let me sign up to get globally taxed and also hounded by the irs at all corners of the globe OR ELSE. Even my Mexi passprt is better if I were rich. Lol.

Personally I'd get the one for Malta. Small enough nation that they won't treat you callously. Too small to force you. All sweetness there. But I'm already Mexican, so no need for visas or anything. Mexico is excellent if you have money. I'd say it's better since the govt won't be on you for everything and anything.

I legit just want to be left alone. This is a core desire.

Lastly, the lottery has trash odds. It's legit a game to extract wealth from the hopeless. 1 in 350 million. You ain't winning that. Lucky for life. 1 in 30.8 million. This you might win. If you win remember me. :)

I wish they'd just do something like $50,000 regularization fee where you apply for status, have no criminal record, pay back taxes if any, learn English, and get a gc in 10-20 depending on how long your backlog would've been so long as you've been in the country since 2005. Then once the border is secured shift it to a rolling year.

And those $50,000 could go for border security and job training for citizens.

It'd be a win win for everyone, but this is the states. They are allergic to simple straitforward fixes and are racist to a self-injurious degree. So it needs to include an arbitrary and callous provision. Maybe every 6th applicant has to climb everest and grow a large pumpkin and have a labor certification and a masters degree lmao.

Oh and it's capped at 30,000 only per year and if any aren't used then they are wasted.

Maybe just auction off the family based cards every year and use the excess funds to modernize uscis so they stop being a slow overpaperworked agency.

Well there's 2 problems here:

1. You are approaching this rationally.
2. Border is honestly a money sinkhole.

You grew up in US, were educated in US schools, speak English, and know more about US history than on the low end 70% of Americans? The rational thing would be to just naturalize you and let you carry on with your life. Same thing with someone who's been in US illegally for an extended period of time, oh you were paying taxes, keeping your nose clean, etc, similarly at that point it'd make more sense just to keep such a person, maybe pay a fine, maybe get a petition from your job. Similarly you shouldn't be forced to content with a 10 year exile when you try to fix your status, humans don't live long enough to twiddle their thumbs for 10 years.

The problem however is that republicans aren't rational. They need someone to bitch and moan about to rile up hillbilly voting base. Immigrants are just the most convenient one since you can't vote. Never mind that decent chunk are asylum seekers who are here legally and larger part are overstayers so having CBP hire more Cletuses wouldn't make any difference. They could encase the whole country in a glass sphere and launch it into space and they'd still bitch and moan that the border isn't secure.

You know what, you are right. Why would we settle for anything less than naturalization. What even makes us different? Most of us have been around for 20-30 years. Its like we have to continuously justify ourselves. Myself, I've been around for 20 years.

Man. I wish I lived in a country that was more rational. Irrationality is incredibly dangerous.

With inflation continuing unabated and maybe even hyperinflation one day, as all dying currencies eventually do, we might all get to be millionares and even trillionares.
