That's really odd they didn't have you fast to test it. He could have type 1, since that has nothing to do with being physically fit -- sometimes a virus can trigger type 1. I would get a second opinion etc, because if you do have type 1, it is really important to control your insulin levels, as soon as possible.

I have a friend who has Type 1. He's had it ever since he was little and it doesn't effect his life in any way other than pressing a button on his insulin pump (he has a pump attached to his body and gives himself insulin when need be). Even if you do find out that you have diabetes, you will be fine as long as your regulate your insulin level. I also know a person who could care less about her diet and insulin intake that she's not really healthy at all. So as long as you control it, you'll be perfectly normal and healthy.

Did you have any symptoms or was it just a random physical and that's how you found out?

well i lost like 10 to 15 pound and i thought it was stress because of school being that it was finals and there was so much crap going through my head with school and work. also i used the restroom quite often. other then that i felt ok i didn't have any stomach aches or anything. i just thought i had a bladder infection because i used the restroom alot. that's why i went to see a doctor so i can get some antibiotics to help me out. but when i left a urine sample, they said i had sugar in my urine. i was kind of lost when he told me that. i started to think damn I'm pissing apple juice lol. but next time i go im going to fast before getting checked out.

sorry bro, you have diabetes for sure. Frequent urination and sudden weight loss is classic sign of diabetes. Second opinion is pretty much just to figure out which diabetes you have (most likely first) but it is pretty evident that you have diabetes.

Listen Diabetes is not a death sentence, its one of the most manageable conditons you could ever have. My mother is 70 and she's had it under control for about 12 years now.

Since your young, you probably don't have to worry about complication like, high-blood pressure, glacoma and circulation problems just yet. Excercise is a great way to control your glucose levels. Walking, running, riding a bike anything that will get your blood pumping.

The medication can get pretty costly, but if you live near a Wal-mart, they have the generic versions for about $4 for a month's supply.

Make sure you do research about what foods you should be avoiding and which ones will help you keep your sugar levels in check. Also consider taking some herbal supplements ( check with your doctor first though). My mother takes cranberry and Blueberry extract and they do a great job. Lastly get on the mailing list for the ADA ( American Diabetes Associtaion) they have more helpful tips for you.

Keep your head up, it could be a hell of a lot worse.
