Yes it is valid for a year, however as long as your AOS is pending you can renew for free.

So while unlikely that an AOS application would take longer than 6 months, it happens that they get delayed.

Yeah I know it's valid for a year but sometimes USCIS can delay your case and may take longer than 6 months to finish your green card application but hopefully not. Plus it's renewable as long as your AOS is pending but I just applied for the EAD in case trump gets elected this November and takes away DACA.

Has anybody not submitted a "financial sponsorship" application and instead submitted a " social security statement" showing that the immigrant has more than 40 credits towards ss benefits?

When NOT to Submit an Affidavit of Support

The following types of people do not need to file an affidavit of support:
An individual who has earned or can be credited with 40 qualifying quarters (credits) of work in the United States
•An individual who has an approved Form I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant, as a Self-Petitioning Widow or Widower
•An individual who has an approved Form I-360 as a battered spouse or child
•Orphans adopted by U.S. citizens abroad if a full and formal adoption takes place before the orphan acquires permanent residence and both adoptive parents have seen the child before or during the adoption

If he gets elected, then I'll just apply a new one. ;)

Both my lawyer and I were not expecting a process longer than 6 months.. Entered with inspection, married for almost 6 years etc etc... Anyways will see. Good luck to all of us! Excited about the debate tonight lol

I just updated my address online for my pending cases. I wonder if I will get a case update reflecting the change of address?
