I just went to check if they had efiled my taxes today and I got this message and since it might relate to other people here you might want to add this on

Fiscal Cliff: IRS filing DELAYED for certain deductions and credits. We will hold your federal return until the IRS is ready to process it. Then we will e-file your return to the IRS and send you an email letting you know if the IRS accepts or rejects your e-filed return.

The IRS announced on January 28, 2013 that they won't be able to process returns with Form 8863, Education Credits until the middle of February.

Exactly! Lol It happens with anything from tax returns to DACA applications. That's why I recommend people go somewhere reputable that way they won't have problems. I will sure add it thanks for your input! :)

btw your username made me

Hi!

So I started to work part time on October of 2012 I have a valid social. It's my first time working and filing taxes. I also paid for tuition. The fall semester was from my parents pocket, but the spring semester it went from my pocket. Can I file taxes? I also received both my W2 Form and 1098T Form.

Thank you for all this info and help. :)

yes you can and you should. .especially with the 1098t depending on how much you paid you'll get up to 1000 dollars back i believe and it will probably drop what you owe in taxes back to zero so you will get some good money back. .with about 1600 i paid this past year i got the money i paid into taxes back and also got an extra 600 too. .you can only claim up to 4000 though but that is enough. .if your parents cant claim you as a dependent then you should claim the most you can.

This thread is awesome! So I started working in October with a fake social and just got my own social this month since I got approved. My parents paid for school in the Spring and I paid for fall, I just got my w2 form and 1098t, this is my first time filing I have an ITIN number should I use that or SSN? I already gave my boss my new social but my w2 form has the old one, will there be a problem when I file?

Will you be filing a return without being claimed as a dependent? Because if that's the case then you can take the education credit. Btw returns claiming education credits won't be processed until mid february. And yes you can file a return! :) Congrats on your approval!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Thanks! We're here to help. :)

Congrats on the approval! Well if you supported yourself then you will be claiming the credit if you're parents support you then they would claim it. You use your ssn you need to resign your ITIN since you now have a ssn. No there won't be a problem just letting you know that if you do your return on a computer/efile who ever preparers it will have to include the ssn that appears on your w2 but that doesn't cause any problems at all. Forgot to mention IRS won't process returns that include education credits till mid february. Congrats on your approval btw! :)

I worked last yr with a fake ss and got my w2 today. I was approved for daca and have my new ss #. I sent a letter to the irs to rescind my itin last week and I was wondering if I need to wait for a letter from the irs saying they rescind my itin before I do my taxes? will the fake ss affect me doing taxes.?

Hi sweety thank you :)
Well since last year my dad hasn't been able to claim me as a dependant because I don't qualify because I'm not a resident or citizen of the USA. When they tried to process it it said he couldn't put me as a dependant.

Thank you so much for all your help.
