Wrong.
What number your social starts with doesn't mean anything anymore. Before, the first 3 digits were an area code for the state in which you applied for your social, socials in the 7 range were issued to railroad workers and people who received it abroad. In middle of 2011 they scraped that.
Now the first 3 digits are completely randomly generated. Most people here receive them with 7s and 8s since those areas were for the most part unused, so they have the most open spots. Plenty of DACA dreamers did receive socials starting with other numbers. |
