If USCIS does not approve or deny your Form I-765, Employment Authorization Document (EAD) application within 90 days, or within 30 days for an asylum applicant, you may request an Interim EAD (Note: Asylum applicants are only eligible to file for EADs after waiting 150 days from the date of properly filing their original completed asylum applications).

To request an Interim EAD, you must schedule an INFOPASS appointment, on our website, to visit this office in person. You must bring the following items to the office: proof of your identity and any documents that USCIS has sent to you regarding your Employment Authorization application.

Once you make your request at the Local office, the local office personnel will forward your request (send a referral) to the Service Center for processing and inform you of the next steps.

I've had a referral done on my case to either expedite or extend my EAD and this is the email I got back

"You have filed for Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). We have received your request to have the case expedited. Unfortunately, agency guidelines do not allow for the expedited processing of DACA cases. Therefore, your form will be processed in the order in which it was received."

Did you make an infopass appointment and at which local office (if I may ask)

Argghhh!!!!! I don't understand why they would do this to us! Did no else over at USCIS realize this could be a problem for renewals?! It explicitly says on the DACA Renewal site that we have to apply no earlier than the 120 days or so before expiration. Why would they not process the cases with the earliest DACA expiration dates first?! This idiotic agency makes no sense. On a side note, I did email the CIS Obudsman last night asking for clarification and help about not only my DACA cases but everyone else's as well and they replied back they're going to look into the situation and develop further means to improve USCIS's practices and procedures. I don't know if it'll actually do anything but I'm willing to try any and all avenues at this point to get something going in the right direction for us.

Excuse my ignorance but what is an INFOPASS and how does it work?

Re: Official DACA RENEWAL Process Time Thread!

Hey everyone. So I haven't posted on here in a long time (few months after first getting DACA), but I decided to check in to see what was happening with everyone's renewals. Sadly, looks like nothing yet. I'm starting to get worried because my EAD expires on Sept. 26, but even worse, my driver's license expires on Sept. 5...and now that I'm seeing this news about not being able to get the INFOPASS, I'm starting to get concerned. It really annoys me that they waited so long to release the renewal form, and now it looks like we'll have to suffer for it. So I can kiss driving my car and looking for a new job goodbye, and might not be able to even attend classes when it all expires in a few weeks. Great. Sigh. I'm not sure what I'm going to do...

Off to update my timeline...

Info pass appointment tool - 2nd screen
did you choose the option -
EAD inquiry appointment - If your I-765 employment authorization application has been pending for more than 90 days.

Yes I did, that's as close as it gets to our situation.
