Re: DACA to AOS

Hi guys!!
I wanted to see if I can do AOS through my sister who is a USC and is over 21 years old?
just to clarify, the requirement to adjust status is to have an immediate relative who is a USC. With that in mind, I was thinking of my sister who is a U.S. citizen?

How long did it take for you to get AP papers from the date it was approved?

Re: DACA to AOS

So I'm getting ready to send my AOS in. My category is F1 and priority date is 10/03/2010. Filing based on the new chart "DATES FOR FILING FAMILY SPONSORED VISA APPLICATIONS".

This is what I am sending:

1- I-485-AOS
2- I-485SupplementA-245i
3- I-131-AP
4-I-765- EAD
5-G325A-BIO INFO
6-I-864W-Exemption from filing I-864 as I have over 40 credits towards Social Security.
7-G1145- E-mail and text Notification.

Supporting Documents:

1- 6 passport photos. 2 for AOS, 2 for AP, 2 for EAD.
2- Approved I-130(I-797)petition with priority date 10/03/2010.
3- Approved I-130 petition from 1997 which grandfathered me with 245i. (all original docs lost in a house fire. Filed FOIA request to obtain copies of everything. Sending complete file).
4- Copy of original birth certificate in Spanish along with English translation.
5- Court cert of disposition for arrest that was nullified. All charges dropped.
6- Copies of Current DACA EAD.
7- Copy of the petitioner's (my mother) U.S. passport.
8- Fees. $1070 for I-485 and $1000 for I-485 Supplement A.

I am not filing I-693 at the moment as I am aware if the AOS process takes longer than 1 year I will have to pay to get this done again. I will wait for an RFE.

Am I missing anything?

Should I send in one check for $2070 or do I send two checks as the fees are for two separate forms?

Re: DACA to AOS

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that someone with a similar experience can give me some insight on my situation. My daca was approved recently, and I'm looking to apply for AP to visit a sick relative in China. However, my (Panamanian) passport name does not match my ID or other identification in the states. I have tried multiple avenues to change the name on my passport, with no avail. The only option is to travel personally to Panama, which is not a viable consideration. I do however, have a document legalized in the U.S., stating that I changed my name. Here is a example of what my problem is:

Passport name: Jane Lee Doe
U.S. ID Names: Jane Yoo Doe (also the name under DACA/EAD)
Name change doc shows that I switched from Jane Yoo Doe to Jane Lee.

Does anyone know if under the AP document, I am able to list both names? If not, what are some possible workarounds? Thank you in advance!

Did you change your name due to marriage?

No, unfortunately, it was a decision made by my mother so that my name would match both of my parents'. Now I'm in a doozy because nothing synchronizes.

Oh I see. Sorry IDK. If your name changed due to marriage, I think you could just go to SSA & DMV with marriage certificate to change ur name, and even renew ur DACA with that too.

Did you try going to the closest consulate for your country to see if there is an easier way to change ur name on your passport?

Re: DACA to AOS

Hello! I am just giving you guys an update, my I-485 is ready to be scheduled for an interview.

"As of October 19, 2016, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC16xxxxxxxx, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

I did not check yesterday because I thought nothing will change yet since it's not even a week that I did my biometrics. That was fast and I am so excited now!
