Re: CA DL thread

Anyone planing on just getting an California ID first and then go for the driver license later? I think I will do that because I have not yet learned how to drive. A regular ID would just allow me to have something in case I need to prove my identity, instead of having to embarrassingly use my passport or matricula lol.

I definitely will only get my CA ID first, as I don't know how to drive yet.
And I'm very very very veryyyyyy much looking forward to busting out my CA ID and not that annoying Matricula.

you can apply for id and dl at same time,
as far as dl goes you'll get a vision and written part of the exam first
then u get a learners permit, which u can drive if u have a licensed driver over18
unless you are under 18 then its like 24+ for the age

Called the DMV today just in case I showed up to my appt and was turned away. Since I don't have my SSN yet, because of the 10 day hold BS, I was told that yes I can take the test, but I won't be given a learners permit. Which, honestly doesn't bug me too much right now because A) I don't have a car anyway, and B) I already know how to drive. So, the second I get my SSN I can take the driving test. I guess I just want to get as much out of the way as possible ASAP. If anything changes on the day of my appt i'll update y'all.
