yes, it is a requirement. i know deerbrook mall used to have it, but it had actual driving involved since some don't know how to when going in. however, i believe a friend of mine took it online and apparently it was cheaper. there's a link inside this link http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/driverl...fetycourse.htm for a list of approved adult driver education courses

Thanks a lot. I'm a little disappointed that I have to take a class when I took drivers ed at home when I was 16, but I guess I don't blame them. Lol. I actually live pretty far from the deerbrook mall and live closer to the Willowbrook mall. I know the Sears there has a driving school so I may check them out. If online is cheaper, then I'll probably do that. Thanks a bunches again.

Thanks for the sympathy lol I was starving and I wanted to kick the lady that took my application 'cause she wanted to send me back home because she said one of my proofs of residence was 'too old,' thankfully I took my SSN card letter and told her she could see the postmarked date on the envelope and the date on my SSN as of last friday so she stared at me but said fine... i was not gonna go home to come back another day after waiting so long -_- Oh i have no idea about adult driver education. I wasn't required that when i first had a license and im 27 now.

Yikes, that sounds super awful :( I hate people like that. They just want to be mean to be mean. Ugh. They shouldn't have a job that has them interact with people on a daily basis when they don't know how or just don't want to be friendly. But I'm glad she ended up allowing you to apply.

Still. What a jerk. :/

Has anyone taken the road test for the DL? If so, did you wait until your appointment or attempt a drive-up haha... My road test is in two weeks, but I'm hoping I'll have a job by then and I would hate to ask for the day off to go drive around 10 mins... I tried to change my appointment but they are booked until December. It does say on the website that they could let you do a road test if someone misses their appointment but you gotta sit around and wait all day. Did anyone do it though?

ROFL!!!

Booked into December? Holy crap... Have you just recently started driving? I feel like I would be more afraid driving alone with a permit (since you can't do that) than driving without a license, period. If you get pulled over with a permit, I think they might revoke it. That would really suck, especially since it's the first time we actually have the chance to get a DL.

Well for the appointments you can make online it only shows open days until December. I'm pretty sure they have something before when you make the appointment in person. No, I've been driving since I was 16, I got my license at 18 and it expired two years ago when I turned 25, but according to the rules if my DL expired over two years ago I have to apply for an original license and take the computer and road tests all over :\ I've been driving with my expired license... and I'm just gonna carry the receipt they gave me at the DMV with the appointment date. I'm just trying to figure out how to take the road test before so I don't have to miss work if I do get a job by then :-P

Oh, I see. What about the driving courses that count towards your driving test? I'm assuming they are probably too expensive to even bother with them or they will just end up taking longer?
