Even if the parliamentarian rules favorably next time, the whole bill might sink if the left wing and the moderate wing don't reach a compromise on spending levels.
Right now, Sinema said she won't vote for reconciliation if they don't change the drug prescription plan, Manchin suggested they postpone the whole thing till next year - which makes it good as dead, the progressives in the House say they won't vote for the infrastructure bill if there's no reconciliation while the house moderates threaten to not vote for anything if the infrastructure bill doesn't go through. They also say legitimately, they won't vote for anything unless they know the Senate moderates vote for it. But the Senate moderates still won't say what spending level is acceptable to them.
So yeah. This is how sausage is made, it may all magically come together in the end, but there are a ton of balls up in the air. |
