Re: Official 2016 Renewal Thread

I just found this thread and am feeling a bit relieved I'm not the only one still waiting.

I sent my renewal in a little over 150 days before the expiration date. My application was received on 04/01 at the Nebraska center, and I did my biometrics on 04/19. My stuff expires on 09/04.

I checked my case status on uscis.gov and it shows up as "Biometrics Appointment Was Scheduled" which is clearly incorrect as I did my biometrics over 3 months ago. The case status clearly has not been updated for me, as it should at least say it's under initial review by now.

I still have 6 weeks before my things expire but I'm worried because they have never taken so long to renew my stuff before. This would be my 3rd renewal. When I renewed two years ago, the whole process took about 2.5 months.

How is this your 3rd renewal? Assuming you obtained DACA when it was first implemented in 2012, this should be your 2nd renewal, just like the rest of us.

I was playing around with the case numbers online and there are about 40,000 cases before mine that have yet to be approved and have the same "Biometrics noticed scheduled" Dont know how accurate that is but its nerve recking

I attempted to play around with the case numbers as well, and noticed that they may not necessarily go in order. There were numbers for applications way before mine that had been received by USCIS after they received mine. I even noticed that some numbers would say "Card Mailed" and others before that would say "Application Received"... So I'm not quite sure how the numbers are assigned, as I originally thought it was by date.

So I've been doing some research into this and someone else had pointed this out, but I believe it is worth mentioning again. I found a letter that was written from a couple of Senators to the director of USCIS about including the DACA application into the ELIS system. There is one part that caught my attention;

However, in 2014, the DHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) reported that USCIS's IT systems do not fully provide the functionally needed to support its mission. In fact, the functionality of ELIS is so poor that USCIS staff, according to the OIG, prefer to process cases on paper rather than the electronic system meant to help them accurately and quickly identify fraudulent applicants.
That may explain why we have such a delay. The system that is being used is not ready to handle all our renewals and the other applications. The system has cost the government a lot of money and they have not been able to get it to work properly. I believe that there will be mass approvals coming in the next couple of weeks. Otherwise we will all be screwed.

Edit:
I meant this would be my 2nd renewal. Sorry for the confusion. It would be my 3rd time sending the application in is what I meant, but I didn't word it right in the original post.

We might be screwed this time around, unfortunately.

I tried to do it on the 106th day and the system did not allow me. It said that my application was within processing time.
