SB1070 signed into law

Governor Jan Brewer signed Arizona's SB1070 bill into law on Friday.

I really do feel for our friends there. Hopefully good will come out of this later.

You guys are mad...? I'm happy. This will trigger immigration reform in which laws like this will be nullified later on.

So cheer up and get ready for an epic battle.

I know. And she said she wanted to do whats best for Arizona. My ass. She clearly wasn't thinking about what could happen!
Anyway, it will still take 3 months before it could be implemented. I hope this gets to court before then.

I went to take a nap and come back to find out she signed it. Can't say I'm surprised, especially since Obama came out urging for immigration reform...

I'm disgusted, but not shocked.

I just can't believe how much hate, injustice, and selfishness exists in this world. You can see the hate in her eyes and how indifferent she is feels what she has just done. Does anyone believe that she thought long and hard and prayed for the strength to make the decision to sign it? It was like she was mocking us.

She couldn't even answer questions without sounding like a complete moron.

On a totally shallow note, what's with the uglies in Arizona? You have McCain growing a mini-me on the side of his rosacea-laden mug, and now this cunt who looks like Herbert in drag —you know, that old pervert dude from family guy.

Let us hope something good comes from this. The law isn't active until 90 days after the Governor has signed it.

We will benefit from this law to pass a urgent bill at the federal lesislation level. We also now have Obama getting into all this.

This is crazy, if I was living in Arizona I would be probably looking to get the hell out of that state immediately. I really feel sorry for anyone here living in Arizona.

The good thing that will come out this is that there will be a lot more focus on the CIR than ever before. Now Obama and other politicans will finally see that CIR cannot wait any longer. Things are getting dead serious.

If they can pass a bill like this they can pass Dream Act at a state level too.

True. But if they do that theyll divide the country, so they wont. I mean imagine being able to work and drive in New York but not in Arizona, you might as well take down the American flag because every state will be its own country.

please don't let your emotions cloud your opinions about the US or white people. We would be just as bad as those closed minded people who are doing such stupid stuff.

This is exactly why I'm not too worried about this. I knew if she signed, which she did, there is no way that it won't get challenged somehow. The bill is too hot.

I just know that we can't let this small window of opportunity pass us by. It may not open up again for a very long time.

Also LOL at the Family Guy comparison. Here is a picture of her with her natural hair. (I think.)

You shouldn't really say that because I know for a fact there are some white people on this portal who are very understanding and supportive and want nothing more than to help out. We shouldn't stoop to the level of those who hate immigrants, we should rise above it.

On an other note, I am very disappointed in the Governor--may God be with her because the immigrant community and the principals of America are not.

No, they can't do this. That is the whole point here: this law is unconstitutional. The Federal government is clearly empowered under the constitution to deal with matters that relate to foreign affairs, and the states are clearly not allowed to conduct foreign affairs. They do not have sovereignty at an international level--hence they cannot deal with things like how to treat foreign nationals, who gets to enter the country and not, and who gets to get citizenship and not. Furthermore, citizenship clearly became a federal issue with the 14th Amendment after the Civil War.

It is for this reason that the courts will have to strike the law down as unconstitutional. The good thing is that because of all the lawsuits this will inevitably cause, Arizona--i.e., the politicians and the people who supported the bill in the public--will have to pay money up the ass that they otherwise wouldn't have to waste. It will serve Arizona right.
