"Our immigration predictions for 2011"

Article here

Comprehensive Immigration Reform.* Given the 2010 election results, there seems to be little chance of passing CIR this year although piecemeal reforms are still possible. The most likely legislation to pass is the DREAM Act since it is strongly supported by President Obama. Although it failed to get enough votes in December to block a threatened Republican filibuster, expect President Obama to put pressure on those few conservative Democrats and enough moderate Republicans to force another vote.* However, CIR may not pass until Latinos finally learn how to flex their political muscles courtesy of the 2010 census, especially in states like Texas with significant Hispanic populations.

I'm so depressed I feel like even though the act is approved I still won't be able to qualify. I came to this country as a us citizen and at the age of two my papers we taken because from whom i obtain my citizenship wasnt my biological father. Alll I was left with was my social security so I tried to take as much advantage of it. I graduated high school a d I'm in college now I registered as a citizen because I still have a copy of my birth certificate. I been to several lawyer and they all tell me that I can be deported once I try moving the process with my paper. They say that I committed frauds by taking social security benefits, voting for Obama in2008, receiving Medicaid benefits and taking federal money for my school tuition. I have so many dreams in life but I really feel trapped I feel like there isn't a solution for my case regardless whether the dream act is approved or not. My life is very unhappy and I'm making everyone around me unhappy. I need guidance???

That's quite the story, maybe take up a second opinion with a different attorney. Best wishes, get back to us!

Well I’ve literally lived here my whole life I arrived at the age of seven months. But even before I was born my mother agree to let my aunt and her husband at the time declare me as their daughter. Everything was perfect until my aunt decided to get a divorce from her abusive ex-husband. He gained this hatred against her so he went to immigration authorities and told them the truth. My aunt never admitted the truth but she couldn’t confirm that she was my biological mother because she didn’t go to her DNA appointment. All my documents were confiscated except my social security and luckily my aunt made a copy of my birth certificate. I received social security benefits because my aunts husband was disabled and as “his daughter” I was eligible to receive them. My aunt went to the social security office and told them to take the benefits away and they said NO!! because those benefits belonged to me. Then at the age of 7 the doctors discovered I had cancer but thanks god I over came the stage and im perfectly healthy. I had five surgeries and was constantly in the hospital. My hospital bill was very expensive and if I had Medicaid to pay for it why wouldn’t I use it. but now that’s another fraud I made. The lawyer suggested for me to start paying all the money I took back, but by the time I do ill probably be dead. To be honest I always thought I was legal in the country I just couldn’t travel so I voted for obama in 2008. Then I discovered that was another one of the frauds I have committed and the first one I can really be held accountable for since I was over the age of 18. I do get desperate at times because I feel like I don’t have an identity

Immigration prediction for 2011 --> very gloomy. 0% chance of passing this year.

I know something will pass within 10 years, but not this year.
Everyone! Work and study hard for your future.

I see a very good chance of passing CIR/DA this year with bi-partisan support.

If everything's as you've told us, then I'd start writing to some senators, including senator Schumer and Obama. Write as often as you can or as long as it takes for someone to know your story. Sounds like your situation may be too complicated to go through the normal bureaucratic process.

Come on folks let's be positive! Really, I understand that some of us are burnt out but we got this far and there is momentum now! We got this! I think CIR is far off, but at least the Dream Act has gotta pass this year! I really believe that something is going to happen!

On side note: WTF McCain.

Caro0926,

What is done is done let it go and do what you can take care of what you have control of. You said your in college keep going and making good grades as long as you can. Deportations are still a rare thing to this point so get as much as you can from your opportunities you have. I mean if your educated no one can take that from you where ever you do go you will be able to find a job support yourself and or family and live a good life. Everyday you walk around defeated is a wasted day that you could be taking action right now you are talking like a defeated person for life man if this is going to defeat you then your going to be disappointed in life a lot because its never easy ever. Stand up for yourself and make something of yourself that is what you have control over right now.

I am not an official clown. You should be stressed out. Stress is not good for your health. Congrats on your future degree. What is it in? The good news is that DA/CIR is getting lot of momentum now and I think this is the year it will pass. I have posted the reason why it will pass. Republicans like to play games but it seems like they have no choice but to pass this.

bc he's sitting behind his computer writing optimistic things to say so that some idiot can run out to Washington and scream "PASS THE DREAM ACT NOW!"

DA User, instead of sitting your ass in front of comp talking nonsense, show us some action by holding up a sign or something if you're so optimistic

Oh yeah, DareToAct, you weren't there when DA User was crying his ass off bout how the age cap was 30 and "he had lost all hope" bc he's over 30 yrs old. But as soon as DA didn't pass, DA User is his old self again. Basically, he's blurts out whatever benefits him. Quite frankly, it benefits DA User that DA didn't pass bc that forces more man power into pushing for DA w/o age cap or CIR

In Dec, 2010, DA User was going into every thread saying "this DA's not going to pass anyways, let's push for retroactive DA/CIR"

Meanwhile, DA had barely any chance of passing even if the age cap was 25..

Instead of pushing for DA that at least younger kids can benefit, DA User would rather kill that and gain more momentum for DA that includes himself.

He also once said, "we should include $10,000 fee for every dreamer. Probably bc he has $10,000. It doesn't matter if other ppl doesn't." How selfish.

If there was a bill that's only for ppl over 30, have been in US for more than 10 yrs and South Asian, DA User would try to kill every other versions just to gain momentum for that. And then he would dissapear from dreamact.info and we would never see him again.

Democrats and the Obama are going to win the elections and Republicans know this very well and this means GOP has no choice but pass CIR and/or DA before the election if they want to get Latino votes.

The reason why DA User is so adamant about CIR is bc he's not qualified for age cap in DA. He wouldn't support anything that doesn't benefit him. DA User wouldn't think twice about supporting attachment of DA to CIR although the bill would surely die.

The bill that had the cap of 30 is dead! The other bills who do not have the cap is still alive.

Hes just emphasizing how selfish you were when they brought down the age limit to 30. As soon as you heard of this you turned your back against Dream Act and on top of that you hoped that it didn't pass, that way later in the future they would bring back the original bill, sacrifice everything for one individual...yeah you're Dream Act hardcore fan *rolls eyes*
