I'll Send My Love And A Molotov Cocktail Too

I was putting up a pro-immigration sign in our living room when my mom walked by and asked me if I was getting ready for another march.

Thinking nothing of it, I repled no, I'm just putting it up as a poster.

Then she quietly told me that I should stop focusing on what I don't have because I'm really driving it away.

Confused, I asked her to clarify.

She went on to say that CIR would never happen and that I was also just sending out negative energy, thus keeping my own legalization from happening.

Yes, my mom is a big believer of this negative/positive energy shit. But I never thought she would use it against me like this.

So I asked her if I should stop my activism. She said I could keep going if I wanted, but that it wouldn't accomplish anything.

It angers and saddens me that she would essentially tell me I'm wasting my time. I know I'm fighting for an ideal that won't get me immediate results, but I prefer to focus on the bigger picture. The political gains I'm so thankful for have only come from years of rallies, marches and legal battles.

I always have the undocumented people I love in mind when I attend rallies, call senators, etc.
So I'll keep doing this. For the girl I love, my friends-in-arms, and...my mother.
Even if she doesn't even support me.

Your mom is a smart lady... There is actually some scientific facts behind what she is saying but I don't want to digg on YouTube to find the clip..

It gets really complicated.. I should do seminars on this stuff..

well this situation is a tuff one for others dreamers to decide on since no one here wants you to lose your relationship with your mother. these things your doing dont hurt our cause it just helps. only thing that hurts our cause is if your going around marches telling ppl some of these states used to be mexico and to go back to europe... gawd i have seen many of those marches...

Law of Attraction, its something that everyone should be actively using, think positive when you want something, never think negative about it as it will only attract the negative things to you.

It's funny how people only now about the LAW of Attraction and assume it's going to work..

There are 24 laws guys... You have to do all of them to see change..

One example is the law of Action and the Law of increasing returns.. You have to do all of them not just the Law of Attraction..

I'm not going to sugar coat it. A lot of activism is mostly about feeling good rather than doing good as I once heard. But hey, if you feel good after marching on, march on I say!

While this is true, Law of Attraction is where it all starts. Wanting something then practicing the rest is another story.

Also not to be rude or anything, LifeDreamer I highly recommend that you take up a hobby or something. Something that will help you kill time effectively. Good Luck

Ohh what!!!! I thought we were friends bertdude7 :-?. I see how it is homeboy ...

But your right helping other Dreamers by answering many of their questions and concerns on my free time is not a good hobby...Maybe I should get addicted to porn..

And your wrong!!!! Doing the rest is not another story and The Law of Attraction is not where it starts!!!! You have just been lead to believe that by the stupid book the secret..

Example :

In the forth grade book Where the Red Fern Grows you recall that the boy really wanted 2 hunting hounds... He didn't just get them!! He worked his ass off for the whole summer after he had enough money the Law Of attraction gave him the dogs buy leading him to a newspaper ad "2 hunting hounds for sale"...

Like the advice he got from his uncle or friend in the book.. You have to meet God half way.. You do half and God will provide the other half...

Only following all the 24 laws renders results if you think other wise that's on you and your flawed mentality...

I have nothing against you, was just simply trying to help you out, so you don't drive yourself crazy. I ll leave that up to you hehe. I've never really invested much time into that book the secret, heard about it but never actually read it. I know what you mean, but I was just simply pointing out that it starts with you first wanting something or else there wouldn't be a point to any of it. Of course if I want a nice car and just keep asking for it, I m not gonna just sit around and hope it falls from the sky, I m gonna try to work my ass off to get it. It is how you say it, meet the universe half ways. And again this was nothing personal.

What did we gained? The situation is worse than ever.

No only did we not gain a single god damn thing, but all the millions of hours spent by all these people participating could have been spent oh so much productively. If they want to do it, because it makes them feel better, great. But don't you dare putting them on some sort of a pedestal because they have simply been wasting their time.

Re: I'll Send My Love And A Molotov Cocktail Too

Whoa some of you guys are really pathetic. You DO realize this is a forum for the ADVANCEMENT of the dream act, right? I wish people would put the energy they used arguing on here into educating the public, building connections with organizations or helping younger dreamers empower themselves.

Gebodupa, I don't know where you live but in California we have ab540 to be thankful for. In 1991, "Leticia V. UC Regents and California State University System" set the stage for a long and hard fight that would eventually give us in-state tutition in public community colleges and universities. A few other states have their own version and I know right now illinois is close to being the next one.

Lately we've been garnering support for Gil Cedillo's AB130 (which has already passed the Senate Education Committee) and AB131 (set to be discussed in a few weeks), which would give us some financial aid here.

All this doesn't just appear out of thin air.

My mom might be confusing my focus on activism with "negative thinking", but the whole point of this post is to remind everyone that inaction is the WORST thing we can do.

Our disillusionment and fractionalization is exactly what the anti's want. So don't give them the satisfaction of bickering and whining online. Stand up for yourself and actually do something.
