companies that help pay school tuition?
I was told that there are big companies that would help pay their employee's school tuition, sometimes as little as for part time employees. I am approved for the working visa and am waiting to receive the actual card, meanwhile am looking to finish my degree as I never got to finish it. I am already working for my brother's own small business, and I guess part of the reason why I wanted to finish that degree is that in order to take advantage of the working visa, I should get a degree and work for a good company who is willing to sponsor me (similar to the F1 or international students that work for big companies and got sponsorship).
That's just my take. How about the other dreamers here?? I mean, since this working visa isn't guaranteed us to the citizenship pathway, one way is to work for companies to sponsor us, right? Linda |

Reimbursement, yes a lot of tech companies will. For example, here in Oregon, giant Intel will pay for your CC if you complete this program ( I think Micro technology) if you work for them for them making chips part time in your schooling. Pretty good considering you get basically an internship while you are in school so when you are done you have a better shot at being hired

Re: companies that help pay school tuition?
Thanks for the info... Do you know if the work for them part time or full time?

Re: companies that help pay school tuition?
Part time like I mentioned, get into engineering programs, a lot of them offer payment from tech giants.

Re: companies that help pay school tuition?
I read that IBM will pay for my grad school once I'm full-time, but not as an intern.

Re: companies that help pay school tuition?
I wonder if you would accept me given I do not have any tech-related experiences or background.....I was studying for psychology and my resume look pretty empty at this point....

Re: companies that help pay school tuition?
i've been applying for jobs like crazy over the last couple of weeks, and i've found that many companies will offer some kind of tuition reimbursement (even if it's not 100%), even the smaller ones that you would never think of. of course the catch is to make sure your field of study is in line with the position you're offered; ie if you're working at a clinical research lab that offers tuition reimbursement, they may not give it to you if you're studying business...
and of course it never hurts to ask. companies that provide strong benefits might have tuition reimbursement as part of the package, but of course if you don't ask they may assume you don't need it. |

Re: companies that help pay school tuition?
Well, honestly I am having a little problem here. Prior to the whole deferred action and work visa, I was working for my brother's small business and it is geared toward children education and prior to that, I was doing many things that didn't really require paperwork or file tax (waitress, selling stuff on ebay & craigslist, small admin work for a small company, etc). And as I said before, I was going for psychology but as soon as the law changes in AZ about the requirements for college and university, I stopped my schooling. As I got older I realized I am more interested in business/marketing area than psychology, and not to mention psychology I will have to climb higher in ladder to get hired. My brother's business is expanding and while I don't particular super-enjoy teaching little children (personal issue), I do like the marketing/sales part of the business. I guess my problem now is that I need to figure out the degree I should finished with. Like if I work for tech companies, I am stuck with going for degree that is tech-related (which I am ABSOLUTELY not a big fan even though I am Asian). Child Education or education in general isn't going to do much for me either (as we know teacher's pay is pretty bad and unjust in US). So yeah, I know while I am sure there are companies out there providing tuition assistance, I have to find out my direction.... I know it's embarrassing to say, but now I have zero excuse to not make a full life out of the circumstances (I used to able to blame on lack of paper, etc)

Re: companies that help pay school tuition?
The best thing you can is honestly move out of Arizona and enter a "real" program, no arts or any of that stuff.

Re: companies that help pay school tuition?
I know, right? I can't believe AZ change law as it did...but guess what, I just received my EA card today!!! I can't believe how fast it processed!!! I received the email notification on 12-21-2012 and the email said it will take 30 days and it's definitely less than 30 days!!! Who knew it would be this fast??!!! Anyways, now I need to check on the forum to see how to apply for SSN!!!

Re: companies that help pay school tuition?
Are you planing to move to a different state or what?

Re: companies that help pay school tuition?
No, not really....I have been in AZ for like, more than 10 years and while there are plenty of A-holes like Janet Brewer and Sheriff Arpaio that's all about kicking us out of AZ, I still have not once thought of leaving AZ...Maybe the good weather (never had to worry about storm, earthquakes, rain, snow, etc) plus living standard isn't crazy high either...well, YET.... I know I was told so many times by other people to move out of here but it just never really got me to it yet. I guess unless it's absolutely urgent (like getting kick out from USCIS), no way I will leave AZ....I am however going to get a calif license from a friend who lives there, and he did mention "why not cali..."...Yeah, I am Asian, I oughtta be from Calif.... :)
