Washington D.C lobbying
 

I will be going to D.C on Monday the 3rd and will stay until late at night September 4th. I will be attending a press conference and meetings with several congressmen. My schedule is tight but I'm open to suggestions. All the chips are in, the dream act must pass.

Do you believe that a whole bunch of us could possibly give you our personal stories through email or something?
Then you could print them out, and have them in hand during your visit to D.C.?

I have just emailed Juan. I am actually in New York.. I am offering my help in any way shape or form.. I would be willing to go to DC, and if Juan needs me and if me and him can coordinate something i will let you guys know.. Stay Tuned!

One idea from me: please talk to the fence sitters like Sen. Webb, Cornyn, McCaskill (maybe), Lott etc. and not just the Senators who already support it. Tell the fence sitters about your potential, and how you (and others like you) really need this legislation.

hey guys iam from va and dc is 20 minutes away from me and i would like to help in anyway possible!!!.....on the other hand the place i work at senator obrien comes in for meetings in support of Pat herrity running for delegate in springfield.......i want to ask him about dream act and his position but i cant disclose my status just incase he's against it......maybe one day i'll get one of my co worker to ask him that question.....but no guaranty!

I'm confused. If juan is illegal, how is he going to make it to D.C.? Is he going to be driven? If he is going to fly, I wanna know how that can be done.

Exactly I’ m flying every day. It’s written: Government issued ID
(Not US Government issued ID).
Thousand of tourists are flying back and forth across the US daily.
They all are showing their national Passports.

Taskgirl if you want to go I’ll provide an air ticket (roundtrip) for you.

She will need only:
Name of passenger (what ever is written on your PPT)
Date of flight and Destination (From /To)
After booking a flight she will PM you your flight details.
It will be e-ticket that you can easily collect at airport 2 hrs

Everyone interested in going to D.C give me your emails. I talked to my lawyers. They said we had leeway in our schedule on Monday. Even though Congress won't be in session we can still strategize and my lawyers can set up meetings for everyone. On tuesday I have pretty much the whole day planned. Some of you may be able to go to the press conference at the national press club.

Are you meeting with Durbin or his people? I think that's the highest priority. Of course everything you're doing is phenomenal but for both our sakes we need more than congressmen who just want a photo op with you so they can show they "care". Durbin is key here. If he doesn't introduce it we're complete screwed so do what you can to try to get through to him.

Some of us are going to push hard to see if DREAM to be attached to the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act on Tuesday. If we work on both these fronts maybe we can pull of a miracle.

Have your people call McConnell and Lott and ask if you can see them. A day with one key player is more useful than one with a dozen congressmen from Hispanic districts.

Good luck, if you need help getting someone to meet you let us know and we'll annoy them until they agree.

Im not able to go to DC... But i wish you the best of luck man, remember everyone here is on stand by, so if you need us to bombard whichever office with calls to pressure a Senator or Congresman to make a meeting happen we will... Im sure your lawyers exactly know what to do so i wont bother with my legal advice lol, but i think the best thing (short term) for now is to possibly extend your stay of deportation, maybe for another 45 days?! So then you guys will get extra time to pass the private bill, or who knows the Dream Act

I completely agree with J6, if you can meet with Durbin that would be great. Perhaps you can talk to Rep Diaz-Balart, im sure he can make it happen, im sure Durbin has 5-10 minutes of his time to speak to you.. If you can see him, let him know briefly about this group say everyone is on pins and needles and waiting for him to do something and alot of us cant wait no more... As J6 said urge him to attach it to the Military Construction and Veterans Appropriations Act, if not then to the Departmet of Defense Bill, but let him know to please do something in September..

on the drive home from work today. i was definitely thinking about going to D.C. next month. They need to see us in flesh. WE need to show them how much we really need this. I dont mind going to D.C. at all with you all.
