On Wednesday, Wisconsin Republican Rep. Paul Ryan, who has supported forms of immigration reform since he was a House staffer in the 1990s, declared that he would "debate anybody" who calls the current bipartisan effort "amnesty."

"Earned legalization is not amnesty," Ryan said during a forum on immigration sponsored by the National Association of Manufacturers. "I will debate anybody who tries to suggest that these ideas that are moving through Congress are amnesty. They're not. Amnesty is wiping the slate clean and not paying any penalty for having done something wrong."

What he's doing is great. But, he still advocates a piecemeal approach in the House which we know won't work out very well for any bill that establishes an earned path to citizenship.

lmao i like to read the comments as well. I saw one that said that how can you argue with someone that makes up facts. I find it ironic that they argue agaisnt the bill because it's "amnesty" to them when all their facts are coming from bs sources as well :p

When I have time I argue with them but most of them don't care about the facts. They are filled with hatred and racism. When you're blind with hate and racism, you don't care about the facts at all. For them, illegal aliens are taking away their jobs , not paying taxes, and not giving back to the country. You give them proof that they're wrong objectively and they ll dismiss that. I just think its funny how I was reading these comments and someone said something that quoted the bible (about treating foreign right) and some else quoted in rebuttal how men should obey the laws of the land. So I posted, "yeah exactly how when the Israelites entered Canaan, they respected their laws right? yeah no they conquered it"

It's even funnier when they try to cite the Heritage Foundation study which even the author admitted didn't account for contributions by immigrants (among other glaring flaws).

It's as if members of restrictionist factions don't actually have a life and spend all their time posting about how "illegals" are ruining everything for them instead of doing something productive.

Yeah I've gotten in FB arguments and they they will say something stupid like yeah I bet you voted for Obama when I've clearly said I'm undocumented or one time one of my "friends" said yeah I bet your a baby killer too. They just have no argument!!

Maybe its because I live in Nevada which is usually a red state, having so much tourism and many different cultures here in Vegas you would think people would be more open minded... but nope! ignorance is bliss.
