Dreamies that Drive

How many of you Dreamies drive without a DL? I just want to get out there and drive.

Re: Dreamies that Drive

off course if you are driving without a dl you are doing it without regard to the law.

HOPEFULDREAMER 10-11-2007 05:34 PM

Yeah but I'm sure you both understand why there I got a little uppity about that part of the sentence since there have been a bunch of trolls lately. No hard feelings right? :D

I know you probably meant to be funny but could you fix that? That's not very appropriate.

Is that better?

off course if you are driving without a dl you are doing it without regard to the law.

Yes, thank you! I know we all have one goal in hand I think the majority would agree that we are human and don't always talk like intellects. What is wrong with letting our guard down with people that we feel understand us?

mz.n 10-11-2007 05:40 PM

People do what they have to do.

The problem is not about how we talk; it's about blatantly saying that you are going to do something illegal. We DO have trolls that look into the site all the time and something like your previous comment can be picked up on and spread around like wildfire for their cause.

I really didn't mean to start a big thing over this.

Sayuri Jane 10-11-2007 07:48 PM

as much as i want to drive and be independant. i will never, ever drive w/o a DL. but i wouldn't condemn anyone who does it. it's hard out here for a dreamie

J6 10-11-2007 07:50 PM

I would never drive without a driver's license because it is against the law. Members of this forum don't do anything against the law.

MariaG1987 10-11-2007 08:03 PM

I also would never drive without a driver's license.

dream warrior 10-11-2007 09:21 PM

Its a hard knock life.... for a Dreamie.... without a DL. Gotta do what you gotta do.... No?

bluedreams 10-12-2007 12:48 AM

yeah, you gotto do what u gotto do, its not easy when u have two jobs and college,

alex1234 10-12-2007 12:55 AM

I have to drive, how else would i get to school? there's barely public transportation in my town and it takes 45 mins to get there. How would I go to work ? it takes another 45 mins to get there

I'll tell you what's against the law NOT giving us a damn license.

right you are..when push comes to shove, and we are backed against the wall, we have to have some kind of forward progress, in our lives, of course driving without a license is against the law but at the same time, i wouldn't discriminate someone who drives without one.

Osito 10-12-2007 07:54 AM

I worked 45 mins away from the city so I had to drive. I've been stopped in the city before (for having a burnt out headlight just two days after buying my car), but the cops in Chicago are pretty understanding. If you don't have a license they'll ask you for any other form of ID, registration, and proof of insurance. After you show em the rest of the stuff, they let you go. Suburbia... well that's a different story. I once had a little fender bender out there. I did have insurance so that covered that part but I was still hit with a ticket for driving without a valid DL, a $250 fine. ouch.

txgirl 10-12-2007 09:10 AM

i know its against the law but i live so far from anything....so i still do it

frbc13 10-12-2007 10:33 AM

i drive with a license from another state, but when it expires im still gonna drive. I need to get around!

MrsMom 10-12-2007 10:54 AM

As a citizen this thankfully doesn't apply to me, but I have to say that one of the stupidest, most counter productive idiotic anit-immigrant laws in my opinion is the inability to get a drivers license ! Why, why, why would you not want people to pass drivers tests, get car insurance, etc. --- all the things that presumably lead to safer roads . I absolutely don't get that at all. Especially in a state like mine, California, where there really are a very large number of undocumented people, who are naturally driving. Just the Drivers License fees could bring in millions for the government. Stupid

DREAMAct01 10-12-2007 10:54 AM

There are some states that don't require a SSN and you can use you're ITIN instead.

stars 10-12-2007 12:43 PM

Yes well then I pretty much will have to pretty soon because finding a ride is getting harder and harder.

Lora 10-12-2007 01:06 PM

I drove with out a license and i crashed :(
the only thing that was helped me is that i had insurance (You can get insurance in some states even if you dont have a drivers license you just nee id like passport, license from another country or a Matricula consular. It was bad cause my car was brand new a 2007 and when i crashed it was a total loss :(

-I had to pay a fine for dwl to the PD
-My car was impounded
-And i got an infraction

Well yes that does seem to suck. Well here I can get insurance and prior to getting my car I plan on putting some money in the bank for situations like this. I dont think I will be buying a 2007. LOL

pingpong abyss 10-12-2007 02:14 PM

How do you get insurance without a DL? I've always had to show mine.

Well it depends what state your in here in California theres tons of Insurance companies that can insure your vehicle even if you dont have a license they'll just ask for some ID. The insurance is typically 200 or more a month i guess cause your more of aliability if you dont have a license. If you reside here in california I could post some numbers on here.

http://www.nilc.org/immspbs/DLs/stat...2007-01-31.pdf

That link shows different requirements that each state has, in order to obtain a driver's license. Some of which don't require a SSN.

That's why I <3 chicago. I just wish they'd let you get a DL in IL without a SSN. That's been on the legislative table for years but I don't think it's ever come to an actual vote. ::sighs::

I just bought a brand new car about a month ago. I never said I was the sharpest tool in the shed. hahaha.

Osito 10-12-2007 05:14 PM

Or you can wear one like the one that Natalie Portman wears in Garden State. I always thought that helmet made her look oh so cute.
