What's up with all the lies?
Dream Act begins an American nightmare
Tom Knott October 11, 2007 Harry Reid, the sniffling land speculator of Nevada, has vowed to resume his fight to award in-state tuition breaks to illegal aliens because of its rightness, fairness and sensibleness. Mr. Reid reflects the thinking of many of the lawmakers in our region, where it has become the duty of taxpayers to help illegal aliens feel at home, whether it is building day-laborer centers in their honor, providing them with social services or encouraging them not to play by our bureaucratic rules. Yours is a phony driver"s license? That is not a problem. We understand. America"s racist, bigoted ways forced you into taking this unlawful measure. We are so sorry. Have a nice day. Mr. Reid is promising to resurrect the Dream Act in the weeks ahead. It is a wonderful piece of legislation if you are living illegally in Texas and always wanted to attend the University of Virginia. You would be allowed to pay the same tuition as the American student who grew up in Virginia. Now if it were Billy Bob applying to Thomas Jefferson"s school, his parents would have to pay out-of-state tuition, which is about three times higher than the in-state tab. This is because Billy Bob did not grow up with the disadvantages of being an illegal alien. It is tough being the son or daughter of illegal aliens. Your parents are always cleaning toilets or inhaling paint fumes or hanging out in the parking lot of the local convenience store. These are the jobs that slovenly Americans no longer want to do. In fact, many Americans are now too lazy to pick up a piece of litter on their front lawns. So they drive to the nearest convenience store and hire an illegal alien to complete the exhausting task. Mr. Reid understands this dynamic all too well. He does not want illegal aliens to be sentenced to a lifetime of cleaning toilets, which is why in-state tuition breaks are so desperately important. And one day if we ever have a shortage of toilet-cleaning laborers, we merely can erect help-wanted billboards along our borders. By the next generation, Americans probably will be too lazy to even feed themselves. That means we will have to drive to the local convenience store if we are still physically capable and hire those willing to labor with kitchen utensils. http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/...plate=nextpage ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The part i bolded just pisses the hell out of me. . Our opponents ALWAYS resort to lies and misinformation to turn the public against us. |
And sadly, I think that is exactly what most people think "in-state tuition" means. Which would, rightly, make them angry. These people just have no shame.
|
I'm sending an email. Everyone promise to do the same. Do it.
|
Wow, this is low. If you just Google "DREAM Act" or Wikipeida DREAM it gives you a description of the bill and tons of sources. It's intentional lying, they have to lie to get people to oppose DREAM. Sick.
|
that is sooooooooooo dumb....stupid people cant even freaking use common sense...of course, dreamers are not going to receive handouts that citizens dont get...
|
Sick but it works because people are stupid.
People barely graduate high school, the odds that they'll actually research a legislation are slim to none. |
can we send a letter to the Washington post? saying that instate tuition is out, and asking tom how stupid and lazy can he be?
|
They have to lie. They have no other argument against the Dream Act, which is why they have to lie and lie loud. If they could actually make an honest point against it, they would use that, but they can't, so they're grabbing at straws.
I sent an email. It's one thing to see this BS on Glenn Beck, but come on... |

This is the Washington times which is on par with tabloids. |
Oh my god! I misread that, too. I was going on in my email about their history of integrity...
Oh, well. |

EDIT: lol, you guys have to visit that site, almost everything there made me want to laugh. The sheer stupidity of the things on there makes that site worse than any "the facts about 9/11" garbage. |
Phyllis Schlafly??? That old bat is still alive? God she must be like 90 now. Don't bother emailing her. She's the anti-christ to so many people. She lobbied against the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment), just because she was too cowardly to want to serve in combat or register for selective service doesn't mean other women don't want these options as well. No one but hard core neo-nazi types read her stuff anyways.

Can someone post a link, where we can e-mail the Washington Times, I want to let them know the truth about dream
|
If the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, then it's really no surprise that these people are scared about illegals taking their children's place in college.

Send this email to the Washinton Times Please!!
Dear Web Editor,
The reason for my e-mail today is to inform this credible news institution about the changes that have been made to the Dream Act. The Dream Act as it stands today in the senate has been modified to make it more amenable to current political environment. The legislation now has a cap at 30 years of age and the in-state tuition has been taken out; Senator Durbin made these changes as a means to garner more support for the legislation. The Dream Act only applies to a specific category of the undocumented population, only to those who were brought to the states before the age of 16, graduated high school, and to earn their legalization must either, perform two years of military service, or graduated from an accredited two-year institution of higher education. The Dream Act is being misinterpreted through out the political spectrum it is only fair as a credible news institution to report accurate and up to date information. Thank You, Dream Act Advocate http://video1.washingtontimes.com/co...contact_us.php |

should add that they must have also been here for 6 years prior to the enactment of the DREAM, or was it 5??? Sorry, I don't have to much time to go look it up, and I'm horrible at remembering things...
Well anyways that points out that the DREAM Act won't affect future kids as well, and people that come into the U.S. after the 6/5 years won't be able to qualify.../chain migration cause...whatever |
This woman is unbelievable. I just gave her a[n eloquent] piece of my mind...
|
I told her to get a refund for her law degree since she was obviously never taught to read legislation.

Omg... this woman is incredibly stupid... either that or she's lying on purpose to scare people... I think it's the first. This was written TODAY and she's saying that there is no age limit... I'm just gonna blame her "crazyness" on menopause... |

Arguing with Phyllis Schaffley or World Net Daily would be like spending your time arguing on Alicap, don't bother.
Also, please, don't just mention that "in-state tuition" was taken out - Please, please, please correct the out right lie about what instate tuition even is ! Remember that in many states there is in-state tuition still, and there is no need to start some backlash about what it means. For example in California to be in-state you have to have attended 3 years of high school in California (or graduated from a California high school I think). I think probably the one biggest problem "regular" people have with DREAM is the LIE about what in-state tuition is. So dispelling it would be good. |
^^ Exactly. This idiot columnist is making outrageous lies stating that an undocumented student from one state could get in-state tuition in another state. Hold this dirtbag accountable for his actions! We have no time for apathy.

Give me a break.
