If I may ask...What are your tentative plans if Congress fails?

In my case, my DACA expires May 2019, so I would prep myself for a life amongst the shadows again. Prior to working at this fantastic law firm, I was a Nanny. So I guess that would be it. :(

Mine expires in January 2019. I'm ok migrating somewhere else just sucks I'll have a 10 year ban. Looking into the ban waiver.

Don't do it. You may die in the next few years if you do that, and I'm not exaggerating. You probably won't get nuked but you'll likely die from conventional weapons once the war begins.

I'm married but EWI, so I'm gonna try for that waiver I guess. I really hope something gets done in the next 6 months. I have until August 2018 to begin my career as a CPA. If something does get passed, I'm not even sure I can get a new EAD by then.

Re: If I may ask...What are your tentative plans if Congress fails?

If congress doesn't pass anything and our EAD's expire ALL of us have one option: Create an LLC company and get hired as an LLC company.

Having an LLC company gives you the ability to create an EIN for that company, this number acts like a "social" for said company with the full legal ability to be for-hire.

Some of our employers may be willing to do this, I know mine is. So that's probably going to be my route.

One negative? During taxes we get hit with a "self-employment" tax which can be hefty but it beats not having a job at all. There are ways to off-set it by having deductions (something T does on his taxes).

Otherwise, for some of us it'll be time to look for day-labor jobs again or pending what some of us do for a career, offer house-to-house services.

Re: If I may ask...What are your tentative plans if Congress fails?

My girlfriend, who knows about my status, wants to get married to help me get a GC. I told her I want to make sure it's the right thing and that we do it for the right reasons. This was back when Trump was elected, now with the rescinding of DACA, she wants to do it in the next 6 months....

too bad I am EWI though. Still another obstacle.

EWI, will be going the I-601A waiver route. If that failed, then I'm leaving.

You guys talk like not being able to live in America is the end of the world.

Don't forget that there are other countries out there. Most of you are well educated and talented. Take your talents wherever you are wanted.

Look at this as a challenge. An opportunity to grow. I know it's a lot harder for those of you with families and whatnot, but that's life.

You've gotta evolve with the times.

Re: If I may ask...What are your tentative plans if Congress fails?

Above, I agree. Another option for me is to travel abroad and teach English. This will allow me to travel the world, something I haven't been able to do here, and have a peace of mind doing so. I've traveled to many states in the US, so I don't see the 3-10 ban as a burden.

Pack my fking bags, take my pug with me and we will become fcking gypsies. I dont have any talent like most of you here so that's my alternative . The only thing I would hate leaving US is not being able to visit Hawaii anymore. :(

Hopefully, I can get approved for another renewal. My application is pending. I'm also on the process of sending my I-601a, which can take about 6 months for approval. I will see if congress has done shit by then. Otherwise , I'll stick to consular adjustment.

I'd leave once expired if there's no hope for a swift fix from congress.. there's no way I'd go back to the "shadows" - luckily my organization will allow me to continue to work remotely (no change in compensation) and or has offered me the opportunity to open up my own office overseas.

I'm thinking a nice safe beach town in a cheap country would work in my favor for a few years.

I'm also considering this option, at least until I figure out an alternative. Any links/resources you can share? Last I read about it rules vary depending on the state and it gets tricky when it comes to dealing with your paycheck/owner withdrawals.

My permits expires in August. So I have 10-11 months. Will wait for congress to act within the next six months. If nothing is done, will try to get married.

Re: If I may ask...What are your tentative plans if Congress fails?

Well if I understood the decision, since my application is pending, it'll be processed (sent it before today). So if I'm lucky I'll have DACA until 2020 (assuming I get approved early 2018 since it'll probably take another couple of months). I'll just work for 2 years, earn money, and see where I am at that point.

Sucks with us cause honestly nobody knows 100% what we will do since so much can happen

Re: If I may ask...What are your tentative plans if Congress fails?

im surprised many here are not willing to just keep working if their jobs "allow them" to. A lot of companies still dont check for the renewal EADs, mine didn't in 4 years. So why not just keep working until 2020, maybe we'll have a democratic president and/or congress that can fix the situation? or at least implement DACA again. Many of us worked before DACA, and it wasnt a problem when we applied for it.

My BF and I are considering the waiver, I think that as long as you get the waiver processed by an attorney, you should be fine. I had friend do it all on her own and was done in less than 2 years.

I was just reading about this 3 days back. This is a good alternative for those of us who work in the tech industry. Thanks for sharing with all.

Lets not forget to march and call members of congress though, we need to fight and take this all the way to the end.

Plan to move to Canada. Company I work for has a base there. But I don't know people. Terrible feeling.

Yesterday I took my kids out for dinner. The feeling of having people stare at you isn't very nice. I am tempted to move regardless. My kids don't deserve this.

But I don't know. Mixed feeling.

I have one year left for my degree. Hopefully I can finish that. If nothing happens and I get deported, find a way to immigrate to Canada or someplace similar.
