Anyone else feeling hopeful?

I feel like what Trump did was the best choice he could have done. If he didnt do anything about DACA, it would die in court.

Now Trump gave us all hope to pass something while pressuring Congress to act.

I am feeling hopeful that we will get some sort or relief or green card.

Anyone else feels hopeful?

Yes, I am very hopeful. He could've gotten rid of us all 8 months ago.

I'm really, really trying to be optimistic.

Re: Anyone else feeling hopeful?

I am somewhat optimistic, but I am not super excited... perhaps because the anti-immigrant, and hateful right got what they wanted, also, I am not too sure if Trump would sign a bill that does not address his main goals, wall and raise act.

So a standalone Dream Act or Bridge Act, he will not sign?

Absolutely not. Not without getting his way and having something to please his base with.. that means the wall, means a lot of enforcement. It's been said over and over again by his admin.

I'm hopeful. I've always believed that something will get passed, and I still do. Momentum and public opinion are on our side right now. Trump didn't have to give us the 6 month window but he did.

I don't like pessimism but I also don't like optimism that has no backbone to support. Yeah, if it ever passes maybe. Under Trump's administration? Not happening.

If it would die in court, how come those AGs didn't sue the goverment about DACA last year? or the year before?

Bottom line is that Trump also had a chance to defend it in court, but he didn't, and instead opted to end it/'phase it out'

Yes, I am hopeful. I'm sure SOMETHING will get done. I would much prefer Dream Act, but Bridge Act would be just as good (at least for me) because I could adjust immediately through my USC partner.

Anyone else feels hopeful?

If I were to be selfish, given that I have nothing to lose here, I would say that this is the best chance there is at getting a law passed. The status quo would mean nothing would be done. The risk is if DACA expires and still nothing is done.

Well, perhaps he would be forced to sign, but that will not be required, because republicans will be in charge in ensuring that does not happen. Remember it is the legislative branch who decides what is in bills.

Trump has not come out and publicly said. I want a Dream Act only bill on my desk to sign.

Until he does, that will be the game Congress will play. I believe a Strong border security bill, along with sound DACA legislation, even the Dream ACT would have a good chance of passing.

Re: Anyone else feeling hopeful?

I feel hopeful. However it's the "compromise" part that brings me down a bit.

We NEED to make our voices loud and clear! Tell immigrant organizations to PUSH FOR A COMPROMISE ( *cough* UWD *cough* ) and tell your Democratic and Republican representatives to begin the talk of compromise, or else nothing will get done,

greentea 09-05-2017 08:40 PM

Re: Anyone else feeling hopeful?

If DREAM Act is on the table, Less immigration(Cotton plan), Border Security(most of Congress D and R), and Funding to start the wall is on the table. It will all pass.

Compromise goes both ways, the both parties needs to know the meaning of it. With that said, Democrats won't give the farm away to save 800k that cannot vote.

Anyone else feels hopeful?

If Trump punched you in the face I’m sure you’d say thank you.

Re: Anyone else feeling hopeful?

I am.

I've been here since 1999 and I can't remember one time where there was this much exposure to our situation. Yeah there were those marches throughout the states on May, but it always felt like it was just the Hispanics/Latinos talking about it for the most part. Now with the growth of social media there seems to be more exposure coming from all different kinds of people and even from overseas. The exposure is out there. I just hope we're not forgotten soon.

Both parties are going to feel the pressure to do something for us and I feel like the Democrats will need to put their pride aside and compromise with the Republicans to give Trump what he mostly want, that damn stupid wall that won't even do anything, but anywho that wall would mean so much to us.

Hope dies last.

Re: Anyone else feeling hopeful?

I am 50/50.

I think we have momentum and a lot of support even from people who once were against DACA. But my gut tells me this momentum will fade away over time. And our situation will become less relevant.

At the end of it all I pray that it all works out for all of us.

We got a hater in the house.

It is unbelievable how many haters we have in here. They wish the worst on us, and always bring us down.

Like I tell my daughter, never give up on yourself.

Maybe you dropped your classes before you had to pay, but there are other ways to continue your ( accredited ) education for much cheaper or free if you have the determination. Part of my undergrad degree I completed with cheap online ( accredited ) credits.

Only spend money on accredited courses.

@Joannax22 Hey! Don't give up on your education!! Yesterday's DACA announcement coincided with my first back to school in over 6 years. I did not for one second consider dropping because education is the one thing they cannot take from of us! If you are able to, reinstate your classes!!

You shouldn't give up and drop your classss. Older Dreamers like myself finished college with the uncertainty that we would even be able to use our degree. Continue your education and working hard to achieve it.
