Sigh, wish they had pursued a different strategy where the American people wouldn't be held hostage because of Dreamers. Biggest concern is the Republicans using this to tarnish our image. Democrats would get a lot of backlash, too.

I feel like whoever hates us, will hate us no matter what. You won't be able to change the mind of Trump's base into liking any of us, no matter how educated, no matter how white you are, if you're an illegal, you need to be kicked out. I feel like this is the correct path to take. Our lives are on the line here, we need to push back or risk getting pushed back into the shadows.

Wasn't in 2001 that the original DREAM Act was gaining traction, then 9/11 happened? >_> Let's hope nothing of that magnitude happens and stalls progress for the DREAM Act and instead spurs even more anti-immigrant sentiments across the country.

Fun fact of the day: I fucking hate John Cornyn for saying DA will not be brought as stand alone "because the minority leader doesn't get to decide what happens in the Senate." Politricks is the only thing standing between us and DA passing now. There's definitely 60 votes in the Senate!

I don't wanna be blindly optimistic, but the situation is different. Back then, we were in the shadows, so, we didn't lose anything when nothing happened. We just continued to be. Now we were out for 5 years, we have something to lose. So I'm hoping that's the sentiment that's going around, if they do nothing they are literally making things worse, like one opinion piece that was written, this is the largest de-legal actions ever taken, with 800,000 lives. That's the difference. Of course, I'm hoping nothing will derail us, but I'm confident in Mr. Durban. So let's keep the pressure going!

Not happening. Ryan said yesterday that a clean Dream Act bill would not be voted on. He wants border security, he doesnt want another bunch of Dreamers 10 years from now.

the dems will need to compromise via border security,

or they could attach DA as an amendment to the debt ceiling budget continuing resolution and other harvey/irma relief aids in 3 months.

They will start negotiating soon to see where they stand before december. The very best scenario would be Dream Act for border security, but the extremists are going to want a bunch more goodies on their side

This was a massive deal by the Dems and gives a lot of leverage. Many reps are pissed of course.

The thing is they control everything and still haven't been able to achieve anything major, all they know is to obstruct but not govern. Which is why Dems better fucking use the leverage and grow some balls. Many are saying that in December Schumer and Pelosi become the presidents
