Republican senator to oppose GOP's short-term funding bill
 

Sen. Mike Rounds (R- S.D.) voiced his opposition to short-term funding bill, known as a continuing resolution (CR) on Thursday as the threat of a government shut down looms over Congress.

"I agree with Angus, and that's the reason why I'm opposing the CR in its current form as well," Rounds told CNN's Chris Cuomo on "New Day," referencing Sen. Angus King's (I-Maine) comment that passing the CR is "no way to govern."

"For me, it's a matter of defense and it's a matter of trying to make sure in the future the message is let's get our work done on time," he continued.

If there's a deal it's between Democrats and moderate republicans, which is really what should've and would've happened eventually. If you want to negotiate an immigration deal you invite the senators that will/may vote yes. You won't give any attention to someone like Cotton who is basically just filling Session's shoes.

So far Republicans are 2 Nay, with McCain out it will likely be 3 Nay, let’s hope Jeff Flake joins in and makes it 4 Nay. Even if all 12 Democrats vote Yay, that will leave them with 1 vote short but Mike Pence can put them over the top with his vote. Let’s hope more Democrats change their minds.
