TRying not to be dramatic but... I give up

Guys. * sigh*

K I was one of the idiots who didn’t submit in time back in October. Packet was sent back with money order and rejection letter. EAD expired 01/19 I submitted for renewal once they started accepting again. I did another stupid move! I’m just realizing on my I-765 I put the last time I submitted for renewal was in 2014 and was granted. Totally dismissed the fact that I reapplied in October and got denied.

I’m scared that they’re gonna call me out for lying or just deny me because of the discrepancy. Should I send another application?! You can’t amend them can you? Honestly I’m emotionally drained by this whole thing. This whole having hope then apathy up and down is too much. Never in a million years did I think when I was 10, 15, 20 that I would be almost 30 in the same situation. I know I should be grateful and hopeful but I’m just having a pity party moment ok. I’ll snap out of it eventually.

It wasn't rejected, it wasn't processed when you did it in October. You're fine, chill.

I know it is confusing and it can feel hopeless at times. Trust me, I just got turned down for a job from a great company because they said I require "sponsorship" despite that not being how DACA works.

Anyway, I think Trump got rid of DACA to open talks of something more permanent and frankly that is what we need. He likes us but he also needs to keep the nation's best interest at heart and that means some major changes to the current state of immigration. All the change is scary and some people will get left out but I think you are fine. However, you really need to pull yourself together when something big passes which I think will be this year. Get a lawyer and triple check everything.

After they offered me a job, hr called to ask about my immigration status. Most jobs will say if they require citizenship or permanent resident status, their posting did not and it was their mistake.

I'm two weeks away from my start date, I'm hoping this doesn't come up, I haven't put my immigration status on their employee self service website yet just in case, although I filled an electronic I-9 two weeks ago. Still nervous. Their job listing said something like "Eligible to work on a full time and regular basis in the U.S."

I think you are okay because thats not the same as asking for permanent resident or citizenship status.

Uhh, you're company didn't either. I think they mean PR when they say 'regular basis' tho. I just have to get to the first day, I doubt they'll be like nope then, well God I hope not, it's in a different state.

Yeah but the company I applied for didn't say anything about immigration status. The good thing is that yours did and they didn't put anything about citizenship.

You'll be fine. A rejection is a not a decision, rather the application was never actually processed and returned as is.

Even if, a minor error like this (where the field itself causes so much confusion that it's not even funny), would get overlooked or you'd get an RFE asking to clarify.

I thought it was illegal for a company to deny someone based on their immigration status. Long as they have the authorization to work it should not have mattered. I was researching that up when I first got my job.

It is, except we're in an exempt category.

I have my first day next Thursday and I’m kinda scared about this. They only had me fill out my ssn and driver’s license info at the interview. Nothing else after that. I wonder what HR will ask me :-?
