Hoyer suggests Dems won’t demand DACA on spending bill

Quote:

Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) suggested Tuesday that Democrats won’t insist on Dreamer protections as part of this month’s omnibus spending bill.

“I think the omnibus needs to be considered on its own merits, and then we ought to move ahead on DACA,” Hoyer told reporters during his weekly press briefing in the Capitol, referring to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

I think he is right. Dems don’t know how to fight and they have no power or leverage to do it at this point. Dems will not dare to block the omnibus spending bill.

Well at least they are both saying that they want to pass something.

Funny how Republicans are the ones wanting to attach DACA to the omnibus and Dems don't. Pretty clear what's going on, Republicans want this issue to go away before the midterms, Democrats want to use it against Republicans.

Re: Hoyer suggests Dems won’t demand DACA on spending bill

This is precisely why Trump is in a position to demand so many concessions. Democrats will not use any leverage. Democrats set themselves up for this shit. God damn these motherfuckers are weak ass bitches. I swear.

Wow. What a load of BS. No, Mr.Hoyer, you are not fighting for Dreamers or immigrants if you are not actively negotiating - also known as doing your work. Neither is Pelosi.

Re: Hoyer suggests Dems won’t demand DACA on spending bill

They do not need to hold anything hostage - just demand and mean it votes on Dream act in the House. RAC Act is a good bill sponsored by Republicans. People are at risk and you do not see any urgency. If he only wishes for the status quo, then what difference would it make for a larger Democratic presence when you still defer to a Republican president?

Yeah, "the issue needs to be considered on its own merits." What a fucking moron. Later DC Democrats complain that Trump isn't being flexible in negotiations. Of course, he isn't being flexible you dumb motherfuckers. You guys do not have any negotiating power after you surrender your leverage like this; therefore, Trump will easily demand all these fucking concessions from YOU.

These guys are straight idiots.

The article also reports that many Dreamers are in DC protesting calling them fake allies. lmfao

I guess that means they must be Republican dreamers. lmfao gtfo

It's so evident to the most of us why Dems deserve some blame here. They are so fucking pathetic.

Who is actually surprised by this lets keep the pressure on them. Lets reply to their tweets they dont fight for dreamers nor middle class/poor people.

Trump is not going to let the issue die bro, and activists are being critical of DC Democrats too.

Seems like it; however, I will be surprised if Trump accepts that. Also, Dems would probably prefer a shitty DACA patch deal that gives border security concessions rather than use leverage to get a safer permanent deal. But, Democrats don't deserve any blame here, right?

What are the chances of anything getting done for dreamers after the omnibus in March and before election?

Very slim to be honest. Everyone will be busy with mid-term. They may be talking about DACA, but only to get more votes. Nothing ever gets done during that time.

Its up to trump to box in democrats and get his wall for dreamers let's hope he agrees to less before or after the "omnibus".

I still think some sort of extension will be included in the spending bill, even if it’s a one year extension...

@ChadPergram
McConnell on if guns, tariffs or a DACA getting attached to the spending bill on March 23 to fund the government: We’re not going to pass another CR...I can’t predict what extraneous items may be in there. But there always are

Hoyer on DACA:
If Ryan was honest they’d put the tough issues on the floor, he’d put the DACA bill on the floor, the Goodlatte bill on the floor and the Hurd bill on the floor...What is he afraid of?

You are spot on my friend, but I think inaction will ultimately affect Democrats more than Republicans in the end. I honestly dont think Democrats will get their "blue wave." Instead, Republicans will pick up some more seats.

Yup. Relief through Congress wont come any time soon. People should start exploring other options of getting relief.

Sen @JeffFlake just tried to pass his #DACA bill that would extend DACA for three years with three years of border wall funding by unanimous consent. Sen @jameslankford objected.

For starters, Trump wants full border security funding, so this bill probably didn't even have a chance at passing since Trump would not endorse it.

Any bill that has chance of passing is a terrible bill. Only good bill I see is Border Security + DREAM Act.

Definetly not. I saw a quote by Hoyer that said the Democrats will give GOP votes needed to pass the Omnibus.

For us, this is a good bill.

From Trump's perspective, "why settle for something less when the opposition is being spineless, and I can potentially milk the shit out of the democrats for more"?
