Re: diabetes
SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THAT RELAXING...but I believe that if its type 2 or borderline diabetes with proper care and excercise you can have it under control and have a normal life I have heard you can do away with it but not if your type 1.I can be wrong so your best shot is to google "types of diabetes" and I'm sure you will come across important information and regarding to needles its a process of 5 minutes or so and personally I believe its worth it for the fact that you need to get the proper care a.s.a.p knowing the diagnose pinpoints you in the direction and actions you need to take.Once again I'm sorry you have this disease and I really hope a cure is found for it.
keep your head up http://www.healthinsite.gov.au/topics/Types_of_Diabetes here is a link you might want to see and follow from there :) |

Re: diabetes
Most of my family has diabetes, so i'm at high risk. Make sure to follow your doctors guidelines strictly. I hope your situation is manageable. Wish you the best of luck.

Re: diabetes
that sucks... If you don't mind me asking, are you obese? Type II diabetes is usually caused by obesity. If it is type two, dieting and exercising can actually reverse it. Even though it can be tough. It is usually managed by medication but sometimes type II diabetics gets insulin shots too. If you are healthy and skinny, then it's most likely type I and you just need insulin shots. It is a hassle but diabetes is definitely a disease that you can live with. It just takes discipline and sacrifice to change your lifestyle. I hope things will workout for you.

Re: diabetes
I have a friend who has Type 1. He's had it ever since he was little and it doesn't effect his life in any way other than pressing a button on his insulin pump (he has a pump attached to his body and gives himself insulin when need be). Even if you do find out that you have diabetes, you will be fine as long as your regulate your insulin level. I also know a person who could care less about her diet and insulin intake that she's not really healthy at all. So as long as you control it, you'll be perfectly normal and healthy.

Re: diabetes
Did you have any symptoms or was it just a random physical and that's how you found out?

Re: diabetes
Listen Diabetes is not a death sentence, its one of the most manageable conditons you could ever have. My mother is 70 and she's had it under control for about 12 years now.
Since your young, you probably don't have to worry about complication like, high-blood pressure, glacoma and circulation problems just yet. Excercise is a great way to control your glucose levels. Walking, running, riding a bike anything that will get your blood pumping. The medication can get pretty costly, but if you live near a Wal-mart, they have the generic versions for about $4 for a month's supply. Make sure you do research about what foods you should be avoiding and which ones will help you keep your sugar levels in check. Also consider taking some herbal supplements ( check with your doctor first though). My mother takes cranberry and Blueberry extract and they do a great job. Lastly get on the mailing list for the ADA ( American Diabetes Associtaion) they have more helpful tips for you. Keep your head up, it could be a hell of a lot worse. |
Re: diabetes
well so far im doing ok with the pills. i havent been acting funny since i started taking them. hopfully i can just stick to the pills instead of getting insulin shoots.
