matricula card

would clubs, bars, or casinos accept matricula cards? has anyone tried using one to get in?

Re: matricula card

Yes, have not done so myself as I have other ID but the answer to your question is yes. This is more dependent on the specific establishment than a 'general' rule.

In the three or so years that I've had mine, I've only been denied once. A second time, I was let in but was told to bring my passport instead. Also, never had a problem in any casino in Vegas during the many many times I've been there. No problems anywhere in LA.

I show my passport rather than matrícula - less problems...

from the 209 area. so ur advice would be to just use a passport instead? and i heard redhawk is nice so maybe ill hit that up someday and i always wanted to hit up taheo and reno its closer then vegas. but are there checkpoints going towards the reno direction at the state line?

So a mexican passport is better than a matricular card

what part of the 209? i used to live there.

Re: matricula card

You are better off using your passport. That's what I used to get into many places they bitch to much about the matricula. If you do use your passport bring your school Id in case they ask for something else with your name on it.

Get the hell out of here. I went to Chico State. You are like an hour away from me. I actually worked in pristine Orland. This is crazy.

stockton, and can the matricula be swipe and pass the those devices that they use to see if there real?

Re: matricula card

Noo. They can't swipe a matricula thru the ID devices because it's not the same as the state IDS. atleast that's what i would think. i've gotten into clubs with my matricula card, i've never had any problems.

Certain states only have machines to swipe ID's for that particular state. However, I went to Pure nightclub in Las Vegas and they had a blacklight machine that lit up some things I never knew were on the card so that's how they knew it was real.

yea i have seen those before its like a lil black box that has a blacklight and shows if the bills are fake or check other stuff like ids. so perhaps reno does the same thing when it comes to checking ids too using that blacklight.

You can get your passport for a maximum of five years. It's expensive but worth the money.

Not weird, especially if it's a big city or tourist locations.

Get the passport. It is better and people don't automatically assume you are illegal like they would if you bust out with a Matricula. The matricula is like $27 and my passport was about $90 but it expires in 5 years. I use that to go to bars and clubbing and no one has ever said anything important. I hear comments like is this you? Is it real? Wow this is big? I have never been to a casino with it but I am gald to hear Dreamies do it all the time.

Did you get the passport at the same place you got your matricula.

Where else? You get both at the Mexican Consulate, of course.

Yeah what he said. Just make sure you make two different appointments. I didn't and I was only allowed to get one and had to go back and you know how those places are. I must admit I went about two months ago and they were much more organized.

LOl. I used to live in stockton as well. I went to Franklin H.S.

Anyways, you're better off getting a passport. People will most likely assume that you're a tourist.

I recently made an appointment to renew both passport and matrícula. If you ask, they allow you to make the appointment to renew both documents at the same time, that way you don't have to haul your ass off to the consulate twice...

BTW, welcome back stars :)

Re: matricula card

I went to the Mexican consulate in Houston for the first time about a week ago. Got the matricula for $27 and during the process my mother suggested renewing my expired passport, paid $101 for six years. I arrived there at 1.30 and left at 6.45. The place was crowded, the employees and everyone in general were very friendly. As long as you provide all the required documentation and make copies beforehand the process goes really smooth. Bring a companion, a book, or music. I like showing my matricula better than showing my tourist visa's copy.
