Let's go on!!! - Email Campaign - DREAM Act 2007
I've been using the following email campaign:
Hello everyone, The US Senate is considering to debate and re-introduce the DREAM Act, a bill that if accepted as law will allow undocumented students that came in the United States as children, to attend college and the military. Under this law, they will be provided with a conditional status that will let them study in college and join the armed forces. They will only receive Permanent Residency if they graduate college or serve 2 years in the army. This law can add thousands of new troops and thousands of new professionals. It will only benefit individuals that have been in the country since they were children and it will not allow criminals to apply. The DREAM Act has been introduced for many years now, and this year has a real chance to pass. We need your support! There are two ways in which you can help us. You can click on the link below and sign the petition: http://capwiz.com/nclr/issues/alert/...SS=Take+Action and if you really want to be involved in the change, you can call your senators and urge them to pass the Dream Act this year. The following link will take you to the senate's directory: http://senate.gov/general/contact_in...nators_cfm.cfm Just look for your senators' phone number or email contact, call and simply say: " Hi, I am calling from ....... to ask for Senator .........'s support for the Dream Act. There are thousands of students waiting to join the armed forces and to have a chance to attend college and The Dream Act could provide this opportunity for them. The Dream act can only strengthen our country. Thank you. " You are also invited to join us at the following forums: http://www.cosaonline.org/forum/index.php http://dreamact.info/forum/index.php We really need everybody's help on this one. Thank you for your help! If you want full details on the bill you can read it here: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:s.00774: |
Good idea. Mods, can we please post this in the Taking Action thread? Any other campaigns/calls to action should be placed in the Taking Action thread.

Does anyone know which are the senators who are likely to be most "on the fence" about this issue?
We need to target the one who could go either way and the ones who can be most easily swayed by constituents.. And then we ALL need to call and email those senators.. Anyone know ? Lets make a list |
