Emerging Adulthood Among Undocumented Students
 

Hi all, I am doing a presentation about undocumented students for a research class. If you can respond to these questions and share your experience it would be greatly appreciated. No personal info will be used, just your answers to these questions. :) Thank you!

1. What, in your opinion, makes someone an adult? Are you an adult?

2. Do you consider yourself more/less independent than your peers? Why?

3. How do you see yourself versus how society sees you?

4. What has been the most challenging part of your life? *Can we define it as EA?

5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?

6. Do you believe that college is essential to becoming an adult?

7. Is there anything else at all that you would like to add?

1. Yes. (22 in June 15)

2. More Independent (kinda of a loner with very few close friends)

3. I see myself as an independent woman trying to get through life. (not the right answer, but could be a filler)

4. Again, most challenging is waking every morning thinking how can I become a permanent legal immigrant or how can I become a citizen. Will DACA last? God, I hope so. Change it from temporary to permanent.

5. I see myself working at a hospital as a nurse part-time and getting my BSN. (hopefully, get a boyfriend or even be married at the time....damn I will be old)

6. Definitely! Education is your best asset especially in today's society. Education is something that people can never take away from you. It is yours and you have to use it to elevate yourself from your current status.
