Renewing DACA a year early

Anyone know if it's possible to renew DACA a year early? With last year fiasco of renewal processing time. I was thinking of just spending the extra 495 and renew earlier.

They might sent it back to you saying it's too early to renew. Try 6 months before instead.

You can send in your renewal early, but if you get approved early, your new EAD will start the day you get approved, not after the current one expires.

This might also cause issues with the SAVE system with trying to renew your ID.

Wait until there are 6 months left at least, you are suppose to wait until there are 150 days until expiration but perhaps a few days won't hurt.

Not necessarily, I was approved in December 2016 with the EAD being valid March 2017-March 2019.

It's all luck, some people do, some people don't. I think the most important thing is to get your approval on time.

I think 6 month should be plenty now that ELIS is no longer in beta phase. We got boned last time due to being caught up in that tech issue as guinea pigs.

I highly discourage from sending it in THAT early. They'll send the application back or worse - deny it.

Follow USCIS' guidelines.

Quote:

USCIS strongly encourages you to submit your DACA renewal request between 150 days and 120 days before the expiration date located on your current Form I-797 DACA approval notice and Employment Authorization Document (EAD). Filing during this window will minimize the possibility that your current period of DACA will expire before you receive a decision on your renewal request.
Marty:

Google is your friend here but this is what USCIS site states:

Quote:

The fee to request consideration of deferred action for childhood arrivals, including employment authorization and biometric services, is $495, effective 12 a.m. Eastern U.S. time, December 23, 2016, and cannot be waived.
