your employer should give you a W2 form. that's really all you need to file your taxes. You can give that to a tax professional, or file it on your own using TurboTax, TaxAct, etc.

I used TaxAct and completed in 30 mins.

If this is the very first year you're working then you can't file a retun until next year. This tax season people are filing a return for 2012 and 2009. Please visit a VITA site or local accounting firm don't go to HR BLOCK or any of those places.

You are usually issued a W2 by the employer and receive it around Late Janurary it all depends. If attending school you should also receive the 1098T. You might receive other foms but you'll know they're tax related because it says so on them.

Why would you not recommend going to H&R Block?

Because since it's a franchise they are most likely not following guidelines sometimes and therefore could cause individuals problems. As a VITA site volunteer I have seen client's come in that had to get their returns amended after visit places like HR Block. Besides if one qualifies for free service from an IRS VITA site it's much better to go visit one because those will do everything right and not rip people off. One could also visit a local accounting/CPA firm.

If you don't have knowledge on how to file a tax return it can get tricky. Good luck though.

Lol, what's bad with turbo tax? Hmm you need to be an accountant to use it correctly lol,but the free version is pretty straight forward.

Actually I dont think it's that bad unless you are trying to write off a bunch of shit. I would buy a new laptop every year and 2 ipads that i wrote off as school expenses lol.
