Work sponsorship

Good afternoon everyone,

I just have a few questions, currently I am employed at a school district as an IT staff w/bachelors degree and a few certifications I have been there for two years. I am pretty sure they will sponsor me if I asked. I haven’t tried because I was hoping they passed legislation before Jan 19. Currently it’s a roller coaster and daca has been reinstated, I expire in October and if I submit my renewal to get an extra 2 more years I would like to start the process. My question is, is it worth it? I really want to travel and currently if daca stays we can’t.
What is the time frame and process?

The reason I haven’t consulted with a lawyers is because I really didn’t want to go through my job because I felt I would be obligated to stay with them.

You can't be sponsored unless you have 245i

The process takes more than 2 years though.

Yes that's the option available for you if they are willing to sponsor you. However, this process does take time as of my knowledge it takes 2 to 3 years roughly. I wish you a good luck.

Sorry to be naive but what is 245i exactly? Looking to having my employer potentially sponsor as well.

Bringing this thread back to life. I spoke with my lawyer about adjusting through work while I was renewing my daca and he said it will be about 10k and my job has to be willing to take the risk. I spoke to my boss and said he will speak to his lawyer and to his boss about it.

My lawyer said the most difficult part would be perm.

Btw 244i is, I believe when you had a petition before 2001 which clears ewi (someone correct me)

Has anyone successfully adjusted who was in my situation?

This seemed like a long time a few months ago but now that they are just considering a daca extension. This time frame looks better.
