College & Housing?
 

Question: for those in college, or who have been through it, or who don't live at home:

have any of ya'll ever moved out of the house & lived in an apartment off campus? If so how did you go about leasing without a SS#?

i live in a house with 7 roommates, it has 6 rooms. no lease, just month to month.

During my first year of undergrad, I dormed. The second year I rented an apartment where they didn't require a credit check because the apartments were loosely affiliated with the university. The third year was the toughest because my roommates insisted on moving to another apartment, one whose landlords required a credit check. My parents contacted the landlord and told them I was an international student, and seeing as there are many international students on our campus, they did not pry too much and were overall very nice about the situation.
