Ever Consider Singapore?

Lately I've been doing some research on countries I may have to move to considering the bleak outlook of DREAM/CIR. Of course I would like to live somewhere like Australia or Canada, where they speak English and have good salaries. But it seems that the immigration process for these countries are quite strict.

I came across Singapore as an alternative... From what I've gathered, they are very welcoming to foreign talent, and have an open immigration policy. Also, their main language is English!

Any thoughts?

This is what I know about Singapore:

Singapore is very multiracial...not in the black and white sense. Singaporeans are made up of people of Chinese, Malay, and Indian heritage. They also have a lot of people from the surrounding countries....Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and others. They also have a huge expatriate community.

Weather:
Singapore is HOT and humid, all year round. It's either rain or more sunshine.

People are generally friendly and welcoming.

Language:
Most Singaporeans understand English, except perhaps some of the older folks. Many Singaporeans speak a local colloquial form of English, known as Singlish, so you may have a difficult time understanding.

Leisure:
The usual. There are the malls for shopping, dining and movies. Being an island, beaches are another choice. What is available in the US should also be available there.

Food :
Some dishes are spicy.

Low taxes, safe environment.

But beware, the only things the Singaporeans don't condone and will frown upon is breaking the law. Minor offenses like littering, spitting, not flushing the toilets, picking after your dog, etc will NOT be tolerated. They take pride in their city.

Good luck!

Singapore is nice, but permanently relocating could be difficult immigration wise.Their economy also expanded 14% last year[higher than China's] and have population density issues and thus issues concerning water as a resource.

The biggest issue as stated are their laws, they are very strict about them and public "Caning" is not considered uncommon.I believe permanent residents are also subject to conscription laws.
