CT DREAM Act passes Committee
The Connecticut In State Tuition Bill for Undocumented Students (Governor's Bill 6930) was voted out of the Higher Education Committee of the Connecticut General Assembly this Thursday!
Below are two links with articles covering the Public Hearing that the Higher Education Committee had on the Bill this week. Several DREAMers testified in front of the Committee Hundreds Turn Out To Support In-State Tuition For Undocumented Students: http://www.courant.com/news/educatio...0,777095.story Higher ed officials back in-state tuition for undocumented students: http://ctmirror.org/story/11864/undo...-state-tuition The next step is the Appropriations Committee. The group I'm part of, CT Students for a DREAM, (we're a very new/small DREAM Act advocacy group in CT) will continue to work for this bill. If anyone is interested in getting involved, let me know! |
Re: CT DREAM Act passes Committee
why do they continue to invest so much money into us when we can't contribute to this country after we graduate? let us use our degrees
|
Re: CT DREAM Act passes Committee
Well is better to have a degree than having nothing at all. If they pass this many more of us can go to a university and continue our education. It is better than not having an education at all.

Re: CT DREAM Act passes Committee
I think the Federal will have to pass eventually and when it does the dreamers that already posses a degree will be able to get their legal status even faster.

If enough states pass their own interpretations of the DA, then the Federal government will have no choice but to act on passing its own broad legislation. It's only a matter of time. |

I hope you're right .

Re: CT DREAM Act passes Committee
Hell yeah CT..let's do this. Thank God Jodi Rell isn't in office. Anyone have any idea how long it would take to implement the law after passage? Can we get in state next semester if it passes with a month or two?

So what's next? They should allow us to get a DL in CT! This would be great!
