Filing for Unemployment
Hello, fellow Dreamers.
Crazy times we’re living in, huh? I feel like being in (financial) stress most of my life has prepped me for this crazy COVID-19 pandemic. I was just laid off temporarily (I hope), and I’m surprised and not surprised at how calm I’ve been haha. I hope you all stay safe out there and we can get through these weird times together!! I just had a quick question as to whether we are eligible for unemployment benefits if we have our EAD. There’s no risk involved with us filing for it, right? Thanks in advance. |
Re: Filing for Unemployment
According to RAICES, n the state of Texas DACA”s and AED are eligible for unemployment benefits and wouldn’t count against the Public Charge Rule.

Re: Filing for Unemployment
As far as I know, unemployment comes directly from the taxes the state gets from your employer. It doesn't count a public charge.
