GOP senators introduce version of White House immigration framework

https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/11/polit...ork/index.html

"A group of Republican senators on Sunday night released a version of President Donald Trump's immigration proposal ahead of a floor debate on immigration this week.

The proposal is expected to be one of several amendments the Senate will consider this week as it debates immigration. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has used a bill unrelated to immigration as the starting point for the debate, which will allow senators to offer proposals that can compete for 60 votes to advance.

The bill is not expected to have 60 votes in support of it, the threshold required to advance legislation in the Senate. Democrats have uniformly objected to the cuts to family migration and have issues with the ending of the diversity visa without another way to support immigrants from countries that are otherwise underrepresented in immigration to the US. The so-called reforms to current immigration laws also face steep opposition."

This was already expected/announced I think.

And this will be the time the Democrats will pretend to “care” again and object because they “love us” so much.

Let’s hope they can make some changes and come to an agreement, but the way I see it is that the Democrats want to use this issue for 2018 & 2020. We will probably get a stop-gap at best!

If that’s the bill they are proposing they can kiss it goodbye. This isn’t immigration reform. This bill is completely nuts! Not even Trump’s proposal was this crazy!

At the end it should cover all dreamers and I'll be happy with it.

We should support this. It’s the only option we have left. Dems lost all leverage for a clean Dream Act. No clean Dream Act was ever going to happen anyway with this administration. We have two options now. We can support this, get legalized, and help our parents the best way we can OR nobody gets legalized and we get deported alongside our parents. That’s it. As long as Trump is president, our parents will be in danger no matter what. That’s not going to change. The only thing that can change for the better is us getting legalized. I don’t care about the diversity visa. Who here does? Future beneficiaries are not here, so who cares. The wall... it’s a waste of money but our peace of mind and wellbeing is more important so they should just pay for the wall. Basically, Dems screwed this up. Now they should own up to their mistakes and just accept this as the consequence. They didn’t want to fight, so they should just swallow this. We should support this plan publicly to shame democrats into accepting it.

I mean you can encounter a cop that hates dreamers and he could possibly file false charges lol and get your ass deported. Or am I wrong?
