Letter asking for an Executive Order for temporary Relief
For those of you who are with me and have not invested 44 cents a change of format. For those against I don't need your comments ignore this post. Since all the letters look the same instead of placing your bio at the bottom of the letter place it on top.
I was brought to America at age 5 and today I am 26. I have a B.S. in Bio-Chemistry and in May 2011 I will graduate with a M.S. in Food Science. Mr. President you have the power to end our suffering and free us from this injustice of not being documented. Dear President Obama, Many presidents have been faced with great challenges throughout American history. Some have been at the forefront of courageous decisions that defined them as a great president. Since George Washington presidents have used Executive Orders to correct an injustice. In 1862 President Lincoln by Executive Order suspended the writ of habeas corpus and issued the Emancipation Proclamation. President Truman by Executive Order integrated the armed forces of the United States. President Eisenhower by Executive Order desegregated schools. President Kennedy and President Johnson by Executive Order barred racial discrimination in federal housing, hiring and contracting. Mr. President you have the will of the House of Representatives and the majority vote in the United States Senate to correct an injustice to children who were brought to the United States without their consent and were raised here as loyal patriotic Americans. In a sense they are American refugees. These great Presidents could no longer stand on the side lines and tolerate the injustices and suffering of so many people. Mr. President find it in your heart and ask God for the wisdom and justice that you may have the courage by Executive Order to implement the will of the United States House of Representatives and the Senate of the United States. Grant a temporary status for children with college degrees or willing to serve in the United States military. Sincerely, Mail your letter give it a shot. 100,000 or more letters would be nice! The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW Washington, DC 20500 Then go to www.whitehouse.gov/contact Go to contact and copy/paste the same letter in the e-mail form and send it. |
Re: Obama Grants Temporary Relief
The title of this is misleading :\

Re: Obama Grants Temporary Relief
Only way to get attention for this important issue. Need people to click on it. No harm done. This is panic mode. Its now or never. No more waiting. Only outrage and demand. I see you clicked on it. Now send the dam letter.

Re: Obama Grants Temporary Relief
No. It doesn't work. The majority of people here told you in your previous thread that this is a stupid idea. And the title of your thread is very misleading. Please change the thread title.

Re: Obama Grants Temporary Relief
This is a stupid idea, and thanks for the misleading title. I rarely curse [mod edit] No wonder you're getting a M.S. in food science.
|
Re: Obama Grants Temporary Relief
Lol food science! xD
|
Re: Obama Grants Temporary Relief
first of all that isn't tikva's credentials, but mine. Tikva is a friend of mine trying to help. Clearly you guys don't know what food science is or that most of the processed food you buy was made by a food scientist. if you don't want to send the letter then don't send it, but there's no need to stop others from doing it.

Re: Obama Grants Temporary Relief

Re: Obama Grants Temporary Relief
BTW: it also makes you feel good to send the letter just to be doing something. It is just one avenue of attack. Multiple ideas and action is the way to go. If you think it is a stupid idea don't send the letter. No need to freak out. The title stays the same for this thread. I need maximum letters sent and attention. If that bothers you. Oh well! It also gives you a chance to write at what age you came, how long you are here and what you have accomplished.

Re: Obama Grants Temporary Relief
Personally, I don't know if an executive order will work or not. The letter is well researched, targeted, and personal. It won't hurt to send it.
I don't find a B.S. in Bio-Chemistry and and an M.S. in Food Sciences amusing. You eat three times a day and don't pause for a second to think about how much hard science goes into making that food. She is exactly the type of professional this country needs most. |
Re: Obama Grants Temporary Relief
Thank you Nick. If enough letters arrive I am sure it will come to his attention and at least he could use our stories. Its only one harmless tactic among many.

Re: Letter asking for an Executive Order for temporary Relief
great idea
|
Re: Letter asking for an Executive Order for temporary Relief
I agree, this is a very good idea. It could also be sent as an email to the President if getting to the post office is too much of an inconvenience.

This should be a sticky.

Re: Letter asking for an Executive Order for temporary Relief
Definitely

Re: Letter asking for an Executive Order for temporary Relief
You should mail it from some where different than your home address and do not put any specifics in the letter that would let someone know where you are. There are at least three different people that look at the presidents mail before it gets to him if it does get to him and if it gets in the wrong hands or you piss someone off you never know what there reaction they will have.

Re: Letter asking for an Executive Order for temporary Relief
I just did this. I asked for a partial Dream Act, such as enacting just the military option and or creating something similar to the French Foreign Legion.

Re: Letter asking for an Executive Order for temporary Relief
Ask for temporary relief? This has already been granted to childhood arrivals, but if you are speaking for those who didn't qualify for DACA because of their age then i think it's a good idea to ask, but we should be asking for PERMANENT legal status instead, cause there is no telling what could happen after another president gets elected in the future.
