State ID/Driver's License thread

Well, time to go to this next step.

Since many individuals have mailed their applications to USCIS they should be able to receive a document[I797] from USCIS that proves they have a pending status with the Federal government. In certain states, using this document allows you to possibly gain a Valid Driver's license or State ID.I don't know all the regulations of 50 states but perhaps this thread may bring incite as to individuals who may live in an individual state that they maybe able to.I see that Texas seems to allow it but haven't read up on other sites concerning this.Just a heads up to the road of normalcy and considering if the process does take long.

Re: State ID/Driver's License thread

I think California stopped issuing Driver's license with USCIS receipts/notices back in 2010.

It seems for Florida it will only apply if you also provide a SSN.

Re: State ID/Driver's License thread

I live in TX, but I have a NM license. I will only change it to a Texas License if Obama is reelected. A DL from TX will expire the same day that the EAD expires or in one year (from what I see), so if DACA is repealed, then I would be without a license in a year or by the time the EAD expires.

Hopefully, I get married by then.

For Texas: EAD (i-766) category C33 (DACA) will be added to the list of accepted documents pretty soon.

Wait so i currently live in Texas, what does this exactly mean for me? Does it mean i can get a DL/Permit even when the DACA forms are processing?

Wait, I live in CA. Is this good or bad news for me? Hopefully some states do allow issuing driver licenses with the documents we receive from DACA, if we're accepted. That'd be awesome.
