Orangetheory Fitness

Dreamers,

Are there any fellow OTFers up in this place?

I've been doing 8 courses a month since March and do the 5am class. I've lost 15 pounds since and I've seen the benefits. I am now able to fit in clothes that I have not fit in a while. Lately I've been told by friends/family that I look thinner. This shit works if you tie it with a good diet.

Per the stats, I've burned 30,000 calories since I started. Crazy. I think about how those 30,000 calories would be part of my body now, had I not started.

For those wondering, Orangetheory Fitness is group exercise themed around Excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), which essentially helps you burn calories 72 hours post workout if you stay at a constant heart rate throughout your work out.

$129 but they hooked it up with a discount, so I pay $119. Yeah it's expensive but worth it for people like me, who need a kick in the ass to focus and minimize slacking off. At OTF, it's hard to slack off since you're always being told to do something and going non stop balls to the wall baby.

That whole Excess post-exercise oxygen consumption thing is mostly myth and just the most recent fad (https://breakingmuscle.com/fitness/t...ining-and-epoc).

Personally, I've found the people who use OT to be more insufferable than the crossfit people with the social media posts about them working out or going in for measurements and starving themselves or not drinking water and doing things that are at best non-sustainable and short term and at worse, kind of dangerous.

At the end of the day it's not rocket science. You have to eat right and exercise so if this motivates you to get out and do it then more power to you.

Do the free class. Its worth it either way. It is expensive. I cut back on weekend outings, so thats helped allocate the funds I would have been spending and shift them towards my membership. Hehe.

Just eat well, split your cardio and strength training up, and do intermittent fasting consistently.

I didn't mean to. You have to remember that I'm middle aged and have lived through a lot of exercise fads including the 80's spandex aerobics.

Just do what makes you happy and motivated. If this makes you motivated to go then go!
