Remember, Remember, the 5 Democrats of December.

Quote:

"Five Democrats joined Republicans in opposing the bill. They were Senators Max Baucus of Montana, Kay Hagan of North Carolina, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Jon Tester of Montana.

And three Republicans joined the balance of Democrats in favor of it: Robert Bennett of Utah, Richard Lugar of Indiana, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska." - New York Times

Quote:

"There was one Democratic senator who missed today’s crucial votes on Capitol Hill: West Virginia’s Joe Manchin, who was elected just last month.

So where was Manchin when the Senate finally passed the “don’t ask, don’t tell” repeal and took one last shot at the DREAM Act immigration bill?

At a holiday party.

“Sen. Manchin and his wife Gayle planned a holiday gathering over a year ago with all their children and grandchildren as they will not all be together on Christmas Day. While he regrets missing the votes, it was a family obligation that he just could not break,” Manchin spokeswoman Sara Payne Scarbro said. “However, he has been clear on where he stands on the issues.”

Where he stands on the issues is in direct opposition to the vast majority of his party. Manchin does not support the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” because of concerns about the “the timing and the impact of the repeal's implementation on our front line combat troops during a time of war.” And he does not support the DREAM Act because he believes it should require the completion of a degree." - ABC News
The vote was 55-41 in favor of the bill. We needed 60.

6 Democrats chose wrong over right.

I love how people are blaming Democrats for the Dream Act not passing.

This is one change that I think they could have easily made and may even be warranted. They should have done this instead of lowering the age or removing the retroactive provision, which disqualified many people automatically and probably didn't win any additional votes. Requiring the completion of a degree would disqualify no one as everyone eligible would still have had the opportunity to complete a degree, which most dreamers would do anyway. And there would still be the military option for those who would rather pursue that route.

Of course none of that matters now, but it seems like if one senator opposed the bill just because of that, then that would have been a simple change to make.

Not solely democrats. The party of those who opposed justice matters not. Just know, and remember, for the rest of your life who stood with you and who stood against you.

Better yet, make those who cast aside your well-being fear the repercussions of their actions.

Just remember, they will be content, in the cozy warmth of their homes, stuffing their bellies with holiday ham while not casting a second thought for you.

YOU are the scum of the earth in their eyes. YOU do not warrant the human breath that you breathe, for it is from the same air that they breathe, in the same land that they consider theirs, not yours.

Remember the anguish that they willingly cast you back into, and then make it your duty to exact revenge.
