Cornyn is a Nay

I don't know if you guys already know, which I'm guessing you probably do, but he's a nay. This is his reason of why he's opposed in the email he sent me.

Dear Mr. *****:

Thank you for contacting me about immigration reform. The need to fix our broken system is clear, and I appreciate having the benefit of your insight on one of the most important issues of our day.

Immigration reform must ultimately be about improving our system for legal immigration, not about creating new benefits for illegal aliens. Although we are a proud nation of immigrants, we are also a nation of laws. If policymakers will agree that all immigrants must abide by the rule of law, then we can reach a consensus on ways to improve the legal process so that it meets the needs of our society, our economy, and our national security.

During the 110th Congress, the Senate considered comprehensive immigration reform legislation (S. 1639). I had serious concerns that the legislation, as drafted, would have repeated the well documented mistakes of the 1986 amnesty bill. Furthermore, Senators were not allowed the full opportunity to offer amendments to this flawed legislation, and as such, I was one of 53 Senators who voted against the cloture motion to bring S. 1639 to a vote.

I have been working throughout my time in the Senate to develop a solution to this problem that I believe will work. I encourage you to visit my website at http://www.cornyn.senate.gov/immigration for more information regarding the immigration reforms I support. As we consider immigration reform proposals in the future, I will continue to promote these policies, but I will oppose any bill that rewards illegal conduct and encourages further disrespect for our laws.

I appreciate the opportunity to represent the interests of Texans in the United States Senate. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

Sincerely,
JOHN CORNYN
United States Senator

Don't know why you're upset about a canned response one of his aids sent you.

Sorry, but we already know that Cornyn is a nay. He is one of the Republican clowns in the senate. So is Hutchison and McCain for flip-flopping on their support for the Dream Act. It's clear they change their mind to oppose Democrats from getting anything done.

I'm not upset. I'm just not gonna bother writing him anymore, his stance is firm. Hutchison hasn't asnwered me yet.

Hmmm,I wonder !

Insiders say that Democrat and Latino idol Harry Reid will call for a vote on the DREAM Act this Saturday because he now has all the votes. “One of the senators in Texas—and we can’t say which one—has agreed to vote for the DREAM Act, claims Phoenix-based civil rights group Take Back Aztlān.

Chicanos Unidos Arizona has been in touch with Senator Harry Reid’s camp, who tells us the DREAM Act is almost certain to pass on Saturday. Besides convincing one of the senators from Texas to vote for the DREAM Act, Chicanos Unidos Arizona can reveal that there will be other swing votes as well

OH, wow! Yay! I will love that Texas senator forever. If any of the two Texas senators votes for the DREAM Act, it will be Hutchison.

Re: Cornyn is a Nay

I know that it is important to call those senators, everyday if possible to help change their minds, but that is not remotely enough. I know that if the Dream Act is not approved tomorrow the only way to someday this young people, undocumented americans, come out of the shadows, will be to transform this fight in a case of civil rights, of human rights. We have to show our power.
