However, McCaskill emphasized that she also had sympathy for some teenagers who had been brought to the United States as infants or toddlers by their illegal-immigrant parents. The teens (some who were unaware of their illegal status) now face deportation, because their status became known when they applied for college or the military.

"We have a heart-breaking example of young woman in mid-Missouri. Who's valedictorian of her class,'' McCaskill said. "Huge community leader in her church. Now having trouble staying the country because her parents didn't follow the rules.''

A few days ago, some members of Congress -- including U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill. -- introduced a new version of the so-called DREAM Act, that would allow such teens to remain in the country if they attend college or join the military.

"The DREAM Act is hard,'' McCaskill said. But she then added, "I will probably vote for the DREAM act. I didn't vote for it last time."

McCaskill's announcement won applause from some, and groans from others.

Among those in the audience who was pleased was Noe Guzman, 17, of New Haven, who found out that he was an illegal immigrant only when he applied to get into the military. He now faces deportation when he graduates from high school in a few months.

Guzman asked McCaskill if she would sponsor a "private bill'' to keep him in the country, should the DREAM bill not get passed in time. McCaskill said she would talk to him but added, "I have a problem with private bills'' which she explained to the audience were measures that applied to only one person.

McCaskill deserves my respect and admiration if she becomes a sponsor, or most importantly, votes for the DREAM Act this time around.

We are getting good feedback.

We need to keep it up because we are the only ones who will benefit from this. Lets do this man!

She is on the heels of supporting Dream, she should be our next week target senator, but we should call her D.C. office ASAP. As more senators hear and meet "dreamers" the support for the "Dream Act" increases, you guys starting to see the correlation? I know it is tough but lets start sharing our stories, and yes that includes me! Senators are on recess plan a meeting with them.

Her is McCaskill's D.C. #, Call ASAP
(202) 224-6665

Here is McCaskill's Fax info: FAX ASAP

This website allows you to send a fax in support of DREAM directly to your congressman. Please forward along:http://americasvoiceonline.org/page/...ut/DaretoDream

http://americasvoiceonline.org/page/...ut/DaretoDream

Type in these either of these zip codes: 63960, 63044, 65617, remember to personalize the message, let the senator know about your story, not much detail just a few sentences. Happy Faxing, you can fax and fax as much as you want!\
It will ask for an Missouri address, don't look up an address, just type "out of state", the idea is keep the momentum going on co-sponsors, the dream act will not come with out hard work, FAX AND CALL!!

Also, her answer seems to hint at the fact that bringing the DA up for a vote is certain to happen.

I agree she should be next week's target.

Sweet. I glad she is shifting her position. Yeah, we should make her the next target.

Im glad to hear she is coming around. The best case scenario is that we get a "yea" vote for DREAM. If not then if she will at least vote yes on both cloture votes (to begin debate, and break an almost ceratain GOP filibuster to end debate, and bring the bill to a final up or down vote), that will be just fine.

She and the other 7 democrat senators who voted "no" on cloture the last time should be our main targets:

Baucus (D-MT)
Byrd (D-WV)
Conrad (D-ND)
Dorgan (D-ND)
Landrieu (D-LA)
Pryor (D-AR)
Tester (D-MT)

If they can at least help bring DREAM to a final vote, we will be just fine as we already have enough republican votes to pass it.

The fate of DREAM is all in the hands of the Democrats!

Let's make sure we keep the pressure on her because FAIR has already released a press release blasting her change on the issue. More calls from pro-dream supporters would be great to keep her on our side.

Call now and leave a message thanking her for the support. And call tomorrow during office hours and do the same.
