^^ Yeah, and it also says "AND" enrolled or been enrolled in a college in NY. So those two years don't include your time at the college.

The federal government is seriously losing credibility here. The entire immigration system is at the brink of collapse as each state is creating its own law. You would think these are separate countries with their own policies. How else is it possible for one to be able to work in one state while someone else is ineligible for employment in another state? Dealing with one CIR rather than 50 different state bills would be so much cheaper and timely. It seems like the latter is our way forward to solving this crisis.

the more the states create their own state immigration laws the worse it looks for the federal law and the better it looks for us to get some type of CIR. Way to go to all those states anti immigrant or pro immigrant , either way its an eye sore for them.

We need to push for this for other states also.

What if I entered the US legally at 15 and became undocumented around the age of 21?

I have always wondered how these state-level legalizations would work without federal recognition since one is required to fill out the USCIS I-9 form at every workplace prior to hiring and file federal tax returns.

As great as this sounds. It's looking like it's going to be difficult to pass. Very strong public and political opposition upstate.

I hope it passes, I don't live in NY but it will be a major victory for us.

You guys must be on crack if you think this will pass. I live in NY but some of the things in this bill are truly ridiculous:

4. ANY ELIGIBLE PERSON SHALL HAVE ACCESS TO:

A. STATE-FUNDED FINANCIAL AID PROGRAMS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO
GRANTS, LOANS AND SCHOLARSHIPS;
B. NEW YORK STATE IDENTIFICATION OR DRIVERS' LICENSES;
C. WORK OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE STATE OF NEW YORK; AND
D. NEW YORK STATE HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAMS.

Yeah, sure we'll get State Aid, Health Insurance AND Driver Licenses; while a couple of years ago, when the political climate was no where near as bad, a governor on a mission couldn't even get the licenses bill to pass.

This is just fucking nuts. I'll be thankful if NY doesn't pass a bill that worsens my situation, and some people think this might actually pass.
