Re: DUI-Will affect my reapplication?

When I drink occasionally, even 1 beer, I know not to even think about driving. I plan ahead. Before leaving the house I make the decision whether I will drink or not. If I will drink, then I tell my friend if it is okay to crash, plan on taking trains (if available), maybe uber or cab.

If it is one of those unexpected times when there is chance to meet a lady and have fun, then as a responsible adult I pull out my wallet, stay at a hotel and it's done with.

I will also add that IT is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that this incident happened because of a 21st birthday. So many bad decisions had to be taken for this to go unplanned.

I do not judge, I can only advise and learn from others mishaps. It goes without saying that others should learn as well.

no, the dissension here can serve two positive purposes 1.) make the OP realize even people who are in his situation (of being undocumented) are not sympathetic to his actions and to hopefully help him see the bigger picture , not just the situation of being accepted or not for DACA and 2.) maybe help people who are reading think twice about doing the same.

you have to realize, some things are simply bigger than us, bigger than whether we get DACA or not. think about it.

at OP: i think you are in a sticky situation. DACA rules do stipulate that being convicted of a DUI does disqualify you. that is why you need to know WHAT you were convicted of. talk to an attorney about this and have them give you possible solutions. some people have misdemeanors expunged from their records; this could be something that happens to you, depending on the circumstances. the best advice, i think, is to talk to an attorney and to have them file for you.

it will be expensive, but it will likely help you.

also: do not do this again, please.
