yeah its really sad tbh. thats why im looking to move to Canada bcuz as long as our status isnt fixed, our long-term future isnt really promising.

Here's what you need to collect social security:

1. At least 40 quarters of work.
2. A valid number.
3. Work authorization at some point in life.

The thing that some people will do, after working here for a while, until they decide to just head back to their countries of origin, is to file for asylum, get an EAD after the statutory 150 days pending, then they might actually try to win the case, if they lose they meet the above requirements to collect SS through the consulate in their country of origin.

I got a letter a few years ago from the social security administration saying that if I went into disability I would X amount per month. It also showed how much I’ve contributed? Or something like that. I don’t remember.

Why worry? Social security benefits wont exist by the time we retire anyway. Invest in a 401k instead.

I agree, it doesn't matter. There won't be any retirement benefits for us left unless we invest in 401k's.
